New Characters and Info revealed for the New SSB - VGF

Nintendo just pulled a fast one on us. At an after-hours press briefing a mere minute ago, the company pulled another ace out of its sleeve: Smash Bros. Brawl -- the next installment in Nintendo's popular Super Smash Bros. series.

Details are just now rolling in, but we have confirmed the following playable characters:

Pit (Kid Icarus)

Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid)

Zero Suit Samus (the blue "no-suit" Samus from Metroid: Zero Mission)

Meta-Knight (Kirby)

Wario (Wario)

The game also features a range of new nasty toys, such as the ability to unleash a puppy from Nintendogs that will run up to the screen, put its paws up and obscure the view of the action. Mario, Kirby, Pikachu and Link have been confirmed as returning characters.

More as it breaks.

This is looking pretty good, but Solid Snake?? The heck?

It's been reported that Wario will have a fart move.

^^ what, I think it's a great Idea for Nintendo to bring in third party characters to the Smash Bros. franchise. Snake is awsome, Sonic too. infact Miamoto himself said that Sonic might get in this time. and if they get in then who else could, the possibilities are almost endless.

but they will need a new final boss other than Master and Crazy hand, I mean let's face it, they got whooped bad the last two times and it would be too predictable to bring them back a third time.

I don't really have a problem with the 3rd party characters in Smash Bros., but I'd rather see some more notable 1st party characters in there before them. Perhaps a new Hunter from Metroid Prime, some Golden Sun characters, and some new Fire Emblem characters. Nintendo's catalog is endless.

Add some clones, like Waluigi(not a very good idea), Daisy, Blade Knight, and make Crazy and Master Hand playable characters.

Sonic could be in the game, but what kind of moves would he have? He'll probably be a secret character...Did you know some people made fake screen shots of sonic being in supersmash bros. melee!?! If you shot all of the names and logos in the credits, then you'd unlock sonic AND tails, thats so stupid! If sonic had been a playable character, which hes not, then you could unlock him in 2 ways, you could play a number of smash fights to unlock him and tails too, I remember a sight where they had fake screen shots of it..I'll post the link when I find it. Lets see, who else could be in the game?... Captain olimar! Most people wanted him in the game too, you could throw pikmin everywhere and stuff, the game would be great if there was 100 characters in the game! (Not including clones)

heard about that sonic thing. saw the screenshot, It had the battletoads and joanna dark in the hoax version. mind you I've heard of a hoax when someone said shigeru miyamoto had died of a heart attack. where as everyone knows nintendo could easily have revived him using yamauchi's secret lab.

Sonic was supposed to be in SSBM. Miyamoto said he might be, but he didn't appear. But as the rumor faded, sites began to post fake pictures, and the rumor quickly arose again. It was said that if you kill 30 people on cruel melee with Sonic, you get Knuckles. To get Sonic and Tails,(they were to work like Ice Climbers, two together) you shoot everything in the credits screen.

Isnt that what I said? And, I think the rumor was sonic and tails APART, they would be invincible if they worked together, they would be better than the ice climbers, sonic would have the speed, and tails could fly him outta pits and gaps...

Actually, it says that you have to beat 20 people in Cruel Melee to get Sonic and Tails in the rumor. I never heard about Knuckles.
