Heh, I'd think it'd be funny if he had the treads.

Metal Gear 2 was never available for the NES, at least not in America (and in fact, until MGS3: Subsistance, the real Metal Gear 2 was never available in America at all). The game called "Snake's Revenge" is a retcon, although I hear it's actually a fairly decent game if you can ignore the fact it's more combat than stealth.

WTF?! You thought a Konami character was Sony's mascot as a Nintendo character was Nintendo's mascot and a Sega character was Sega's mascot?

Yeah! Everyone knows that the PlayStation's Mascot is the Ape Escape Monkey (or possibly Crash Bandicoot)!

Ape Escape Monkey is a maybe. Crash Bandicoot has had Nintendo appearences before. That, and you don't think of him when it comes to PlayStation. You think of Final Fantasy VII.

Actually, I got that mixed up. MGS 1 has a Cube version (The Twin Snakes, "Twin" being what made me think it was 2), and I mistakenly thought Subsistence was multiplatform.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I think MGS2 was available for the Xbox, but maybe I'm just thinking of something else. I do know there was a MGS game for it. But aside from Twin Snakes, there's no MGS game for the GCN.

There was a GBC Metal Gear Solid, though.

You did in the days of the PSX. Nowadays, the "mascot" seems to be Kratos from God of War, but even that feels like a stretch.

Nah, I never thought of Crash back in the days of PSX. I only thought of FFVI, but anyhow, if we were seeing more Konami characters(which I hope not, simply because the spaces need to go Sonic and MegaMan), they'd have more than enough of their franchises to choose from. Simon Belmont does scream Nintendo anyway, so he's a good choice.

I never said you specficially did. Just as you said "You don't think of Crash yadda yadda", I said "You did yadda yadda" as a figure of speech. Many people looked at Crash as the PSX mascot in the PSX days.

Something I'm not sure everyone is getting when they say "Maybe Mega Man will be in this game!" is that Konami came to Nintendo and asked them to put Snake in the game. Sonic might be another story since there appearantly were plans that never fell through to put him in Melee, but the only way you're probably getting Mega Man is if Capcom does what Konami did. And I doubt it, since Capcom can just make their own fighter to put him in (they've already put him in the two Marvel vs. Capcoms, and the EXE version in Onimusha Blade Warriors)
