Gates of Eternity: Kieran's Story

Talents
Agility - 12
Guts - 8
Mind - 18
Presence - 2
Spirit - 20

Abilities
Knowledge: Magic (4)
Gate Magic (3)
Telepathy (3)

Resources
Spellbook (3/10 Full) Preparing a ritual written in a Spellbook adds +4 to the relevant Magic Ability. Non Ritual spells can also be read directly from the book, cutting Spell Fatigue in half, and adding +2 to the relevant Magic Ability. However, it takes all of your concentration to do so. You cannot otherwise be distracted or the spell fails.)

------
Just as you thought you'd gotten away with some components and the casting ritual for a spell you wanted, a lightning bolt arcs from over your shoulder hitting a nearby tree. You turn around to see the latest victim of your magic-stealing spree rather pissed off. He's a middle aged man dressed in fancy clothing, brandishing a short staff, etched in runes from top to bottom.

"Return what you stole, and start begging for your life.... and maybe I'll spare you." He starts twirling the staff slowly in the air. The motion causes electrity to form in the air and the runes on the staff to begin to light up.

I'll summon some type of creature in front of me, if only so it gets hit by his attack instead, and get out my spellbook to cast a spell next turn. (...So, what is in the spellbook anyway? Or is it more or less that I can just do any sort of basic spell with it?)

I don't feel like keeping track of a lot of lists for stuff in this game, so its basically just filled with whatever basic spells you want. With the way spellbooks work, they're not really meant to be used directly in combat, although they can be.

You summon a tiger in front of you. Your opponent stops for a moment, but than arcs another bolt at the tiger. The tiger leaps aside and the bolt arcs into the ground harmlessly. The tiger begins to move around him, eyeing him, looking for an opportunity to pounce.

You pull your book out. What do you want to cast?

I guess I'll cast a fire spell at him.

You cast a ray of flame. It lances out, striking him in the arm, making him drop the staff. The tiger pounces, knocking him down and pinning him. He struggles, but the tiger is stronger than him.

What do you want to do? You've got mental command over the tiger. You can keep it here for another three or four minutes before it starts tiring you out.
