If you get confused there's an extensive help menu in the Maker plus a few pre-made games for you to learn from. I'm halfway through making my first game with it, it's nothing special, more me just becoming familiar to the interface and how things work than a proper attempt. Ill put it up if I ever finish it before trying something else. |

When I was younger, I used to use a simpler program called Klick 'N Play to sort of get ideas out. I was a pioneer, made computer opponents and the like when there was no direct option for an intelligence pattern. I'm currently in the selection stage for an RPG I'd like to make, and my brother has found a very promising engine that's in development that I think will be the perfect option for me. ![]() |

(At least if you download version 5.0 instead of the newer shareware versions.) I've been using it for years now. It has its limits, though, and I'm learning C++ so I can create games from scratch. But if you don't want to learn to program it's excellent. The neat thing about it is that once you start putting code in your games you need more and more to accomplish what you need to, and programming becomes more and more familiar. After using Game Maker's built in programming language for a while, Javascript was really easy to learn for me. |
