OK We Need to get this Forum Rolling

I have come to realize that besides Myself, Vinny, Falco, Rattan, and a few others this Forum does not have enough returning posters. Please post any ideas that you have that will make this forum better. I'm sure Vinny will stop by at some point and collect ideas/thoughts and tell us which are usable or not.

Currently I am working on new banners and I hope that we can change the colors of this forum to make it look more GTA like. Good idea, bad idea?

^Well, I've been a returning poster lately myself, so hopefully that will get a bit of traffic flowing thru here. If you want, I could make up sig that advertises the GTA forum like some people do for their sites, etc. and paste it into each of my posts outside the forum.

I like the new colors idea. Maybe for awhile we could try making the layout similar to the look and feel of Vice City and the 80's ?

Beat me to it. Anyway, if you have any ideas that you would like to submit to make this forum better, don't hesitate to speak up. GoD has worked up a new banner and new post new topic/reply/poll buttons, and all he needs to do is upload them to the internet and I can put them up (well, first I gotta figure out how to do that, but how hard can it be?). I'm also thinking of putting some music up. REAL music, not that video game crap. However, first I'll have to find some sites that have music. If you know any, please help me out. I'll also advertise for the forum in my sig from now on. I'll try to go by the newbie forum every now and then and tell them to post here. Maybe that'll get us some results.

Any submissions, whether they're put up or not, are appreciated. Thanks!

Vinny: I like the music idea. A song you might like is Beast of Burden by the Rolling Stones. I believe goes nicely with the general theme of Vice City.

Some sites I know of currently are www.mp3.com which primarily hosts music by aspiring musicians/singers. There is another place called Audio Galaxy, but I don't remember if it costs. You can also find music off of Kazaa Media Desktop, at www.kazaa.com.

I'm going to do a search for some online radio stations later on and perhaps you might wish to put a link to one such of these stations possibly. That way, newcomers and forum regulars alike can always have a variety of music to listen to.

Another idea I had was for there to be a link in the forum header to online walkthrus for the various GTA games. On another note, perhaps you could make a table in the forum that says Recommended Sites where links to GTA-related sites could be placed. Perhaps you could even have someone go out regularly searching for GTA sites, evaluate them, and then if they like the site, pm you with basic info about the site and why it had appeal and then you could consider putting it up in the Recommended Sites table.

I've also thought it'd be neat to have a weekly "Insane Stunt" topic where people post all sorts of cooky things they have done in GTA games [mostly GTA III & VC]. It's basically a weekly version of the "Memorable Moments" topic. Not one of my better ideas, but I thought I'd try suggesting it anyways.

Perhaps webpages with various info related to VC & GTA III could be made and then linked to in the forum intro. That way, visitors could remain right in the forums as they browse desired info in a separate window.

Also, perhaps you might be able to try some neat html/java tricks with either just the forum intro, the look of the forum, or a little of both. www.dynamicdrive.com has alot of html/java "goodies".

That's about it, hope my ideas aren't too lame.

^ The only problem with MP3's is that they take an incredible time to load. We need to find MIDI files of all the songs that we want. I was thinking of the main theme song of VC. The, "And I ran, I ran so far away. Couldn't get away" song would fit good also. The weekly crazy stunt topic is a great idea. I have already created a weekly poll. Keep thinking of ideas.

Good, GoD. You got them uploaded. I'll put them up as soon as I learn how to. It's not that easy. Could you make the banner a little smaller? It takes up about 2/3 of the page. I'll show them around the Mod Forum and ask some people how to do put them up. Great ideas, AWSCO. I'll put those up as well. If anyone else has any ideas to modify the appearance of the forum, post them. We're trying to make this forum the best it can be.

They look a little sloppy... no offense. And you have to get Shane to make the template for you. You can't just do it on your own.

Is there anyway you can have some sort of countdown to the release of Sin City or something. Also, PLEASE CHANGE THE COLORS OF THE FORUM. Wait, inspiration, we can have some sort theme of the week that could be tied with GTA. Like we could have, "Be your favorite gang week." where people could change their name to there gang. Example, "GoD: Shark of Death" or something. Any gang could be chosen. That will promote growth when others see the name

Yes, I haven't decided what to change the colors to yet. And besides, like Falco said, I need Shane to do that. I don't know how to do the countdown thing, but I'm sure Tub knows. Besides, has a Sin City release date even been set? I've looked around and I can't find anything.

We can start that theme this weekend. Good GTA sites will go up tomorrow. And can you make that banner smaller, please?

GoD, I believe you were asking about having a countdown timer until the release of Sin City, so I went to www.dynamicdrive.com and found two scripts for such. Not exactly sure what is the difference between the two, but I provided links to both nevertheless.

I think the forum was fine to begin with. A link to a greenday song (???), and a few crappy new graphics, does not make this place any better. In fact, it's quite the opposte. A countdown timer for a game that has no release date is a waste of space. Gay.
