Damn my human fingers!

So I have GH3 now. It's my first Guitar Hero. Like a doofus, I started out on Easy.

I'm now on Normal, and it's a nightmare for me because I've trained myself to use three fingers.

Hard is going to kick my ass. I shudder to think of that damned orange button flying at me.

Any tips?

Punk rock tried to kill the metal...

It takes some getting used to. I used to fear the dreaded orange button. Now, I'm sliding my hand up and down to reach it with no problem. Just give it time.

But they failed as they were smited to the ground...

Well, I recommend learning HO/POs soon. Not only do they make songs... possible, they totally make you feel like you're rockin' out. The next, and possibly only piece of advice I have is to rest your fingers on the red-yellow-blue-orange frets instead of green-red-yellow-blue. In Expert, where the orange fret comes pretty often, your index finger is more adept at switching between frets than your pinky.

Do pinky exercises. I'm not kidding. I'm actually really good with the orange button. Just make it to where you can bend your pinky over there.

There must be something wrong with my hand. I still rest my hands on the green fret.

I rest my index finger on green by default, but I just switch back and forth in the middle of songs as I deem necessary. It takes a bit to train your mind to keep track of whether, say, your middle finger is red or yellow at the moment, but it's worth it.

Am I retarded or what? Guitar Hero III is my first Guitar Hero EVER. I know, weird. I am ok on the Easy level. But I have been watching some of the expert videos and am wondering if any of those who are flawless on expert play real guitar or have any training. It looks insanely fast! I can't even follow the buttons on the screen. I am wondering how in the hell I am going to actually make my fingers work like that.

^Being good at guitar and being good at Guitar Hero seem to be inversely proportional to each other. All the people I know who play guitar absolutely reek at GH. But anyone can get good at anything with enough practice. I used to suck at GH on easy as well, but now I'm able to pass almost every song in the game (damn you Jordan).

i hardly ever have to use my pinky. easy pro tip: start your four fingers going red to orange, and use your index finger to go the other way to hit the green. much easier and less strain. practice makes perfect

And another thing.....instead of playing on easy, play on expert in practice mode on slowest and get used to the many many notes, and work your way up (if you have the time and patience). it'll all work out in the end. good luck.

Also i think i never mentioned this, but i have 19 years of real guitar under my belt.....lovin it!
