PS2 Guitar to PS3?

Hey!

Just a simple question.

My friend got Guitar Hero 3 to his Playstation 3 the other day and I was thinking of getting it myself. But, I don't own a Playstation 3, but a Playstation 2.

Is it possible for me to buy Guitar Hero 3 to my Playstation 2 to play alone at home AND use the controller (Guitar) with his Playstation 3 if we were to play with each other?

It may be possible, if the PS2 guitar is USB. If not, I can't see how it would work.

I'm relatively confident that the PS2 controller wouldn't work for the PS3 game. If that's what you're asking.

how do i Get my brand new GH3 game on my PS3 to recognize the guitar it came with, i can only play with the controller

WHat is a Dongle on GH3

The Dongle, if I recall, is the device used for wireless reception.

And I don't know much about the PS3. Is there some sort of software update required or what? If it's the PS3 version, it should work fine.
