Another (Not-So-)New Guitar Hero Game is Announced!

I was just thinking a few days ago that there were a ton of songs on older Guitar Hero games that they should release for full band play. Now, yet another GH game has been announced; my prayers have been answered!

Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits details sound familiar

Quote:
IGN has an interview with Paul Gadbois, producer on Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits, the franchise-milking upcoming compilation of what Activision has determined are the most popular songs from every console GH title to date. Canadian development studio and port-expert, Beenox, is putting together the disc, which hits 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii in June. (It's confirmed at $60 for the 360/PS3 release, $40 on Wii and $30 on PS2.)

According to Gadbois, this mash-up of previous Guitar Hero games will offer full band play on all 48 of its included (master) tracks, while also including the music studio, character creation, and online features introduced in Guitar Hero World Tour. Eight tracks-from-the-past have been revealed so far:

* "Barracuda" by Heart
* "I Love Rock N Roll" by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
* "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister
* "Killer Queen" by Queen
* "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against The Machine
* "Nothin' But A Good Time" by Poison
* "Them Bones" by Alice in Chains
* "Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce

What was it The Smiths once sang? "Re-issue! Re-package! Re-package!"
The person who wrote this article apparently doesn't think this is such a great idea. On the other hand, I do. I have only been able to play GH3 and on, so I'm glad they're revisiting some of the songs from the older games. I really hope they bring back some modern ones, too. Like Knights of Cydonia. And Dead. And some more older ones. Like Sweet Child o' Mine. And IRON MAN!

Anyone else think this is a good idea? Because a lot of people in the comments are insulting its gloriousness.

Its a good idea in the case of you are thinking, THE NEW SONGS SUCK GIVE ME BACK SOME REAL ROCK N ROLL TRACKS (i belong in that group) and want to have them in one package.

But then its a cheap trick to earn money on allready sold games but cough* any games oldschool download department cough* sometimes you maybe want to own the stuff in some way so that is good in a personal way.

Then i realy don't think that it was a great comparison but i hope you get the point

Put John the Fisherman on it, please.

There hasn't been a Primus song in any GH/RB game since II, and that's too long of a wait.

I'm still waiting for a Status Quo Edition. Although I guess you'd only need the Green, Red and Yellow buttons.

You didn't happen to see this, did you?

I just think it's good because I never played the first couple GH games and they're bringing it back IN FULL BAND FORM!!!!!!! And it only costs $40 on the Wii.

When does Guitar Hero: Folk come out? I want to rock out to Elliott Smith and Nick Drake with my friends.

Guitar Hero: Mozart edition.

At least, they may as well broaden their horizons.
