Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Well, the wait is finally over. Modern Warfare 2 has hit the stores. Me being the fan that I am, ignored the game demonstration and got in line first, snagging the first copy of the night. I played some multiplayer, and was blown away. This is THE definitive FPS experience. I didn't get a chance to play much, but what I did play was fast-paced, intense, and all around a blast. So, discuss. What did you guys think?

It suprised me that so many people at my school ditched class just to play all day, all in all, this game had a huge impact...

BUT I HAVE TO WAIT 'TILL CHRISTMAS!!!!

I mean, I don't see where the could've went wrong. Even the things that seem the most ridiculous have been perfectly balanced in this game. As far as I know, there is no God weapon unlike in most FPS's; the weapons get better as you level up, but someone using the starter guns should have no problem getting kills.

The airport scene = pure epic.

Online is the greatest online play I have ever experienced.

Limiting what to CoD? I just think the latest CoD games were the best of the FPS genre I have ever experienced, and in fact turned me onto a genre I often thought little of.

So a game that expands upon what I thought to be the best must be the bestest by my logic. Unless they screw it up, of course.

honestly i've played MW1 and WaW and they're not stellar, unless MW2 drastically (and I mean DRASTICALLY) improves upon the formula i can think of better FPSes

But I guess you can't name any, by the looks of it.

^ I agree. I recently played Section 8 for the 360 and it is a good FPS, but very different from the norm. What with jet-packs, hyper-speed running, temporary lock-on (n00bish) and all that, the game has a different style all its own.

Section 8 was pretty cool. It had a different flavor than most FPS's, and it was presented fairly solidly. But I have to say out of all the FPS's, I think MW2 is the best.

TF2 is a pretty well rounded FPS that constantly gets updated.

L4D1 and 2 are both well designed FPSes centered around the zombie apocalypse.

HL1 and HL2 both stand up well against the test of time.

Counter-Strike is okay.

I've never played those games, but they are good from what I've heard.

Me and a friend were trying to buy MW2 yesterday but it was sold out. I'll be sure to give an informed, but probably not needed nor wanted opinion shortly.

Bought it, traded it back in the same day, it felt like an expansion pack of MW1, and in my opinion that was a pretty dull FPS. But, I've always hated war based FPS', so meh.

Agreed with Chunky here.

Oh, and to add to chunky's list, Unreal Tornument 3 is an excellent one I'd play over CoD.

As far as modes go, Co-Ops is fun, but some levels are stupid.

Multiplayer is great but kinda cheap. Lots of deaths occur from seemingly unstoppable, and often unforseeable forces.

Besides Campaign moving so slowly, it is good.

I love Infinity ward's games, and I think that MW2 improved on MW1 in every way. There are other FPS's out there that are just as good, it just depends on what your style of play is i guess

multiplayer is a lot harder due to the massive ammounts of explosions, but still fun. and I thought the campaign was masterful...

This is seriously quite pathetic. I am sure Russians would have had no problem if it was another country involved in the game's plot, like Germany, which has of course been the antagonist in most Call of Duty games. Anybody who pays attention to MW2's plot will understand why Russia is at war with the US, and know that the Russians aren't being depicted solely as bad guys.

But still, these are videogames, right? No need to actually research and contextualize those at all, not when there are kneejerk reactions to be had.

Waah waah waaaaaaaah.
