I never noticed that gorilla mouth before. Now my mind-state has just been shattered.

This is how my best friend always saw Terra:

It took me a while to unsee it.

If you look at it that way, it's almost like a sprited version of Andrew Jackson.

I've been replaying FFVI again lately.

I still have a terribly difficult time seeing Shadow the right way.

In the pokemon games I ALWAYS thought that the edges of cliffs/hills were logs lying on the ground. I was always really confused as to why you can jump over logs in one direction but not the other.

I mean, look at this. There's nothing there to indicate a change in elevation. How was I supposed to know that's supposed to be a cliff?

It's weird. When you play a game as a kid and mistake an object for something else, it becomes ingrained in your mind and you never notice what it really is until years later.

Here's another one I finally noticed, after 15 years of playing Donkey Kong Country 2:

That's a skull? I always thought it was a mutated bird head.

I always thought of them as brick walls that had ladders that let you go up from one side.

Though once bikes came into play, that made it trickier.

So I saw this piece of fanart today.

And I thought...wait, what? That's an EYE!?

Sure enough, I totally see it now.

What I had always seen is what this fan-artist apparently also saw:

But the more I look at the sprite, the more I can totally see that it is, in fact, a single eye with a helmet.

What'd you guys see?

I used to think that too, 'til I actually read that they were ledges then I could force myself to see it. xDD

^Maybe if there was a blinking animation it would have been more noticeable.
