Liking it so far. Only thing I dislike is..... The Victory Fanfare doesn't play at the end of a fight. Last edited by The Doctor; 03-11-2010 at 12:45 AM. |

He said it has great graphics and story, but didn't like the music or battle system, and said it was very linear. I expected this would be the case myself. |

The linearity I'm a bit annoyed about, but I'm still early in the game. Vanile's weapon is... uh, odd. I think her character is more mysterious than it seems: I mean, she got her weapon by...yeah. Also Her "mark" is on an area that could have been hidden easily earlier, before everyone got "marked". Just an observation. |

They all dreamed the same thing when they got marked. Surely hers would have been different if she was marked earlier. Plus that skirt don't really hide that much of her legs. *wink wink* |

She could have gotten the same "goal" from the same crystal guy. It's a stretch, but she's still shifty. The fact she mysteriously finds her weapon behind a pillar makes me think she had been there before. Then there's her lack of knowledge: she wonders if Pulse is all that bad, which is a huge contrast from everyone else who thinks it's "hell on earth". She also has no idea who the old man on the TV was, despite him being something like leader of the...planet? Granted, some of these could just be her being naive, but something tells me she's just hiding a lot of things. Hmm, is it just me or is this story a bit of a darker version of the earlier crystal stories? In FF1 or so getting chosen by the crystals made you awesome, and everyone loved you: here, it seems that getting chosen by a crystal guy for something makes you a disgusting stain on Cocoon society, and as such you are a fugitive that will be hunted down until you are dead. You know, none of these characters are "bad" so far. Hope is annoying, yes, but most of that is remedied by the fact that the situation right now kinda sucks. |

[/quote]But isn't there a time limit before the effects of the focus comes into play. If she was infected before Serah, she'd be a cie'th by now surely. Although that was strange how she know that weapon was there, maybe she saw it when they started to crash....like she's part magpie or something. But I think she knows the same as everyone else, but tends to look at the brighter side alot more, and thinks everything is going to turn out fine. I'm assuming you're at or about the same part as me X-3? Chapter Three, part four "Casting the net". I've just left the Icy bit behind me, and in the "Gates of Antiquity area. Quote:
Edit: Oh and what's up with Vanile's hand symbol thing... Last edited by The Doctor; 03-12-2010 at 12:28 PM.

She could have had lots of time remaining, though she seemed weak-ish when Snow found her, so...I guess I'll just have to keep playing, heh. I think I'm just starting Chapter 4, actually. Good point about the focus. I think it kinda makes a contrast to earlier games, where getting chosen by the crystals was pretty straight-forward. |

Which would bring Sazh, Hope and Vanile to it too??? Cool. Just started Chapter four too. Just after the flash back of Lightning getting on the purge train. |

Hoping for the best with this one, though. |

Okay story is pretty linear, but the actual fighting mechanics are interesting. Oh, and I wish this game was $60 over here. That would make it £30. Which is pretty good going cos I paid £12 more. ![]() Think I've found out why Vanile is they way she is Sazh: What you was asleep through History Class? Vanile: *giggles*.... pretty much I think, she has been in a coma or has been in that crystalised state for a long time. This would also explain why she didn't know who that president guy was. |

Allow me to rephrase it in the way it sounded in my head. "I want to get Final Fantasy XIII, but I am afraid I will be paying $60 for a movie. Is that something I should be concerned about, or is it really quite enjoyable?" |

Why is spending CP so...fun? I get some strange joy out of seeing Strength +4 and whatnot. also, my 360 controller is disconnecting a lot today, but only when I make an enemy stagger/whatever. It can't handle such moments of opportunity, I guess. |

And, while yes the cutscenes are long, it's a final fantasy story! They're meant to be long to help tell you a story. ^ Yeah, same here. I kept going back into the Crystarium every two mintues to spend CP. So addictive. |

Looks like Hope is becoming a MAN, thanks to Lightning. And she's getting slightly softer. Huh. He's still pissed at Snow though, so this might not be so good.
