the other smt games are cool but they are generally too jrpg and grindy for me to actually consider them good games. also nocturne is hard as ****.

I wonder what this game's theme would be.

Persona 1: Teenage Depression (at least the SEBEC route)
Persona 2: Rumours, sins and punishment, memories (...to a lesser extent. Kingdom Hearts uses the memories theme a lot more)
Persona 3: Death, wild cards.
Persona 4: Reality, fantasy, basically what parts of yourselves you don't show.

The only thing I actually would like to return from Personas 1-2 is having everyone except the main character change personae. Except, some less...tedious way of getting it.

^^ Him too. Obviously, you have to finish the social link before a specific time, but I think special stuff happens during that particular event if you max him out.
