GUARANTEED. <333 Soooo, most of the new material in the game comes from controlling a female protagonist as opposed to the original dude. This opens up craploads of new social links [including Ryoji, and all of the guys on your team], leads to slightly different story events [like when the guy protagonist would be at a sports meet, the girl protagonist visits Inaba with teh frendz], and also has a lot of surprisingly well thought-out changes in the game's main, non-social-link-related dialogue. Like, rather than blatantly hitting on you, Yukari gossips with you like she would to a fellow high-school dudette. Stuff like that. The changes they made in the social dynamics within your group are very believable. However, since it's on the PSP, a lot of things [graphically/aesthetically] had to be sacrificed. You don't appear on the map at all, you just point and click at what you want to talk to/interact with, and a lot of animated cutscenes are changed to either voice acted talking faces or they are acted out with the 3-D in-game models. So, aestheticwise, it isn't as good, but gameplaywise [they added a lot of P4-esque gameplay tweaks, without blatantly copying it] it is greatly improved, and the female protagonist allows P3 fans to re-play the game while still experiencing something that feels new and fresh, and very well-done. Honestly, it IS playing Persona 3 with a new perspective. It doesn't feel like a port or remake or whatever, it feels like the game itself, and yet it also feels very original. Win. Now I just have to convince myself to not touch it tomorrow so I can have the most gameplay possible for my plane trips to and from France. No guarantees. |

I still say get it, because if you play as the male MC it's pretty dang close to the original, then you can play as the female if you like it enough to get an original re-play. |
