The eyes are kinda freaky and out-of-place with the rest of the image's style. D:

Ooh, why didn't I see this earlier?

Not bad. So, you know you have the basics for drawing stuff; inspiration is key. The other facet is about adding more set-pieces to your drawing vocabulary. I like to think of drawing as learning a language; you learn the groundwork grammar and then it's learning new words and exceptions to the rules.

A couple of things of note, if you're open to criticism:
  • The eyes are the most important part of the face (maybe even the picture), so it's important these are right. I wish I could link to the tutorial I read, but it's broken now. Essentially, eyes need exactly one eye distance between them. Go ahead and stare at someone's face; artists do creepy things like this (well, I do this =\). The tutorial brought up a few random images from Google image search and lo, it held true. Even the most cartoony, stylish faces have this magical spacing; with the typical huge anime eyes, they take up most of the face.
  • The colours are a bit flat. Maybe my screen's bad, but I hardly notice the highlights and shadows. There're usually sharper shadows on the neck beneath the head, around the eyes, and in and around the hair. Some of the shading you put in also bled off of the body and into the background, a bit of shading-outside-of-the-lines. A trick I do in Photoshop is to magic wand select the background and invert the selection so I don't end up unintentionally colouring stuff outside of my linework.
  • The linework is kind of wobbly and uneven (something I need to work on, myself). I have an idea how to do this properly, but a lot of it is practicing drawing lines. My sister would be all up ons saying that I don't know about line widths and stuff, and totally do that facial expression only teenage girls can do. Anyways, Gabe from Penny Arcade posted a brief screencast of drawing Boba Fett, followed by some Q&A. I hear it's about using less wrist and more general arm motions. I find a learning curve bump to switch from wrist to arm motions, so I haven't done much of that yet =/
  • I like making lists and talking about myself ^.^

You know, since this thread's title was cut off, I totally expected this to be something else. I'm sick, I know.

Very nicely done, but I have to agree with Kargath. The eyes are kinda scary.

Wow, people suddenly started replying 0_o anyway: Ace: thank you a LOT. I forgot to mention it, but critique is greatly appreciated. Kargath&Val: *checks* yeah, you're right. I'll work on that next time! (This is why it's good to post your art. You get fresh eyes to see the lameness you can't.) Frumious: ... BLUEShyGuy: yeah, I saw it and thank you.
