SP's Art Thread

I got a tablet today. I was playing around with it, trying to figure out how it worked.

This quick doodle and CG and another (which I'm not going to post here; no one would get it 'XD) were the results.

It feels good not having to scan anything in. :D

More to come in the future.

If you have a program like PS, as a tip I would suggest faster strokes for smooth lines. CTRL + ALT + Z is your friend, as well. Finally, try drawing with the resolution set higher with your actual viewing window zoomed out - you can shrink the image afterwards. It all helps get rid of the shakey lines on less expensive tablets(like the one I've got).

Looks like you've got the shading down very nicely, with great colors. I wanna see MOAR.

Thanks much for the tips, AI. I'll put them to use in the future. :)

Erm, yeah. Double-post. >_>

A random girl with blue hair and purple eyes. The shading on the face kind of sucks, because I realized later on that there was another step in the shdaing process that I should have done, but didn't. I fail at folds, too. :D

You're welcome, SP. You're welcome to ask for advice, if you ever need it.

Looking pretty good, and you'll keep getting better as you familiarize yourself with the tablet. For the comment on the shirt folds, here's a quick reference:

Shirt folds mostly gather vertically around the shoulders, and more horizontally across the lower torso, in the places where the most loose cloth hangs down. It's a bit different in longer shirts or shirts with different necks (and sometimes, they're just wrinkly), but you can usually count on those being prevalent. For the record, I don't think yours are too bad at all. The neck part is a little sketchy, but it looks like a turtle-neck anyways, and those almost never sit right, so it's pretty hard to really screw it up (go figure).

Because I'm a retard and mistake SHIFT for ALT.

I meant CTRL + ALT + Z. Goddamn.

CTRL + SHIFT + Z is the command to "Step Forward". It's like a reverse Undo.

CTRL + ALT + Z is the command to "Step Backward". It's basically PS's Undo.

Simply CTRL + Z is the actual Undo command, which is mostly worthless because if used twice in repetition it will Undo your prior Undoing of any action.

Ever since I've been making Livejournal icons, Ctrl + Alt + Z has been my best friend. It hasn't failed me in my tablet usages, either. :)

I wish you could do that in-game. The number of times I've wanted to punch Godot so far is mind-blowing.
