The biggest influences on my drawing style are probably manga artist Monkey Punch, and Warner Bros.' Chuck Jones. Both were able to cram a lot of energy and movement into a single drawing, and they had excellent timing when it came to visual gags in their respective medium. One of my biggest influences in writing is Stan Lee. His use of over-the-top dialogue and descriptions do a good job of keeping the reader's attention, even if the story itself isn't all that great. |

I was watching it when I was getting partially serious about drawing figures. The first tutorials I found online were from PolyKarbon, and I also got some from this guy back when his tutorials were still online. I also was creating that RPG Maker 2k game, and I picked up some aesthetics from there too. All in all, it has given me an anime look which I'm sort of stuck with now =/ |

Also, The Office. Every time Dwight Schrute walks on screen I think to myself, "I would like to be him" Musically: Radiohead, Primus, Massive Attack, Pixies, The Beatles. Other obvious answers. |

I, at first, really got into drawing by copying-by-eye/freehand-drawing pictures I liked. There were a lot of techniques I was doing back then that I didn't really understand, but I learned a lot about proportions, because I didn't step down and trace pictures. I eventually started to use poses from one character, and adapt them to another. I learned most of what I know about the human body by studying skeletons and actual models, as well as the exaggerated muscular physiques of the super heroes. So, long story short, I was taught to draw with a lot of different sources, and eventually came back to doing line-based art after learning realism. I would really recommend anyone else learn realism before seriously attempting cartooning, or you might find it difficult to change up styles when you want to. | |

In fact, almost every drummer I've listened to has had something I liked and learned, so I suppose I take a little from everyone. In terms of lyrics, Thom Yorke, Steven Wilson, Matt Berninger, Will Sheff, and Jeff Mangum immediately come to mind. There are others, I'm sure, who I've imitated subconsciously in the past. When I write prose, I actually find myself without a specific set of influences. I never really picked a specific author who has influenced my style, though I tried to take a little from Gene Wolfe for a little while. As well, there were several guys who wrote for the Gunjin whose style sort of seeped into mine early into my attempts at writing and haven't really left me yet. I don't really feel "influenced" by anyone other than those. And even those are slight. When I write, I just. . .write. Not really thinking about how others have written their books. I wonder if being an entertainer still counts, being that I'm making a youtube show. So I guess David Letterman, Stephen Colbert and other known talk-show/satire hosts. |
