Spritedude's art thread and stuff.

Everyone else has a thread, so I thought I'd make one. Here's a few drawings/sketches that I've done recently:

This one's supposed to be The Green Knight from the Arthurian Legends. My teacher asked me to draw it for her.

Ichigo from Bleach that my friend asked me to draw for him. I'm not really a fan of Bleach, so his design may not be completely accurate.

Everyone's favorite hedgehog. I didn't actually make the background, I just took the background of Green Hill Zone, painted over it a bit, and blurred it. Came out alright I think.

My favorite Pokeman evar. I used some website to "vectorize" it, so yeah, I kinda cheated a bit.

Another quick sketch. This is supposed to be a redesign of my actual Spritedude character (the guy in my avatar).

Anyone who read my "return" thread probably saw this:

So yeah, that's just a few of my drawings. Any comments/critism are welcome. If I draw any more stuff soon I'll post them here.

Aw crap, I made a typo in the thread title. Uh, would one of the mods mind fixing that, please?

I like your shading, you stick to one light source well. Try using a neutral dark tone like grey or a contrasting color to shade up to your base colors, before adding highlights.

You're doing very well with highlights. What sort of software are you using?

^Ah, that reminds me, I did this one of Silver, too.

The only thing I don't like about it though, is that he's just...standing there. I should've at least tried to give him an interesting pose.

Definitely agree with AI on the shading thing. I am LOVING the shading on all of your stuff, especially the I'M BAAAAAAAACK face.

Silver seems as if that is casual for him. I kinda actually like it more that you went with him just standing there instead of a stance. Stances are cliche'.

I agree that your Sonic looks awesome. And I love the lighting on the Green Knight. You're shading's not quite smooth, one can kinda see the individual lines of color, and to some that's a bad thing, but I think it looks great they way you pulled it off.

Depends on his software, mostly. Anyone that can't appreciate a good painter's stroke is just an amateur. If he upgrades to Photoshop or Painter, he can work with different brush shapes and densities to improve the style to have a more painted appearance. It is much more difficult to get a good organic look with software, anyway, and no publishing agent is going to take on an illustrator whose work just looks CG'd, from a professional perspective.

Sprite, the static poses aren't bad, it's just that you're getting a feel for how you want to draw something. If you want to take those designs and techniques that you used and apply them to an image with more movement involved, you'll be better prepared to do it. I think it would help if you learn some more about overall composition.

Finally did another picture. This one's some dragon character I made.

A little sloppy, but it came out alright I think.

Woo, more pics. (About time)

This one's some guy I drew for a superhero team collaboration on GameFAQs. Yeah, he doesn't look much like a superhero, but I tried.

Here's the one I did for the art theme thread. I really like how it came out, so I'm posting it here too.

I'm working on some more drawings right now, so expect more soon.

Yeah, you did well with the colors on the "Explosions" poster. Your "superhero" design looks pretty cool, IMO, and it's good to break the mold when it comes to comic heros.

Not all Superheroes need tight spandex and masks.

Just saying.

EVEN MOAR PICTURES.

Just a few drawings I did in art class the past several days. Now that school's started, I'll probably be drawing more.

A Dragon shielding a boy from the rain. OMG A BACKGROUND. I like this one, so I may end up coloring it in Gimp, probably with some darker colors.

These next three are part of some X-Men ripoff superhero team I'm working on. (Not the GameFAQS one, my own).

Warpster, with the power of speed.

Surge, with the power of electricity. His arms are kinda small in this pic. =/

Thorn, who is a mutant half dragon, half human...thing. (I kinda based him off of Nightcrawler).

Those aren't the only members of the team, there's a few more. I'll post them once I'm done with them.
