So I know there aren't too many of us here...

But to all the (aspiring) authors of VGF: do you belong to a writer's/critique group? Do you have a network of support for your writing? Do you have a writing mentor or coach?

Honestly, I've never found a group I can connect with. Sometimes it seems like I have more in common with the mindset of agents and editors than I do with other writers. XD No doubt I've just been looking in the wrong places/not found my scene yet/haven't been trying hard enough/am too picky.

I've never really found any groups I felt comfortable in. When I write it's usually something I do alone, with little input from people in the beginning. I've posted some things on websites for critique, though.

I'm a solitary person. So is my writing.

we are a group i think, its just that we have troubles having meetings and when we do, someone can't make it.

But we are working on something great though, it's hush hush but i asure you you'll like it if it ever comes out.

I was going to join a writers' group this year, but it never really got off the ground, plus I've been swamped with my internship.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Nay, I go for a "Trail and Error" method of writing.

Hmmm...

Mayhaps we could form our own group, just for the heck of it?

WHAT SAY YOU, GENTS? (and ladies)

^ Neither have I...

I've never really enjoyed writing as part of a group, usually because there is a distinct lack of interest in my works. *sad face*

Yeah, my problem with groups is that people have too many differing opinions. One person might like your work, another be bored silly by it, another think it's contrite, etc.

I wouldn't be terribly opposed to a ragtag group here, though. Half of my work seriously wouldn't fit any VGFers taste. XD

We can have tea, and give demotivational speeches to each other, and roaring encouragement to keep at it, then viciously honest critiques~ And then cake.

I would participate. But only if there is coffee.

Like I just said to SD, in person:

Amateur writer's groups have a way of criticising the story being told and the author's stylistic choices, not the flaws in the story or the way the characters have been presented. You need to stay open-minded to the tastes of other people if you want them to be at all receptive to your suggestions.

We should make a group. I could really use some constructive critiscism for my writing. I'm currently writing a Fan-Fiction called Legacy, about Link after Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

I've only really started writing recently, so I haven't tried to write with any groups.
