I apologize for the crappy scan quality. ![]() Just random sketches. Some are cartoony, some are more realistic. Everything here's original except the hands, which I tried to copy from a tutorial to help improve the way I draw hands. ![]() Some random cartoonish characters. The mice are, well, just mice. I'm not that good at drawing mice without a reference, so they may not look perfect. The creepy guy on the right is something I drew when I was trying to work on expressions. ![]() A drawing of a girl. She's supposed to be some kind of elflike fantasy demihuman, but I kind of screwed up the ears (I was trying to be creative with the elfish look). I never really finished anything past the head. As you can see, it stands somewhere between "realistic" and "cartoony". I've been experimenting to see what looks like a decent blend without looking too over-the-top (i.e. "Are the eyes too big to look real?" "Could the nose look more cartoony?"). ![]() I haven't retired from drawing weird **** either. ![]() A cartoon sketch. Not sure what I plan on doing with this character, but we'll see. I still don't really have a discernible "style", so I'm trying a few things to see what fits me the best. I like the way this one turned out, and I think I'll color it eventually. So, those are a few things I've jotted down in my sketchbook recently. I might post some more stuff if I don't end up with artist's block. Feel free to comment, critique and make suggestions, keeping in mind that these are just sketches. |

You've managed to work out drawing more realistic hands and more cartoony ones and they are all awesome and dammit I wish I could draw hands. x{D And you say you don't have a discernible style, but all of your doodles/drawings/works/whatevers have a very distinct Valstyle to them. You're awesome at stylizing stuff. :{D |

Here's a few more things I've done recently. ![]() Some more hands and stuff. There's still a lot of things I can't do with hands, so I'm always practicing with them. ![]() The same character as the one I posted at the top of the page, but with a little more emotion. ![]() Aaand... well, I'm not sure what this is. |

If you want to control the size of the grain in that filter a bit more, I'd also recommend sizing up the pic to do the filter, and sizing back down. In the resize settings window, you want the smoothing settings at bicubic normal to preserve the integrity of the image. It's in a dropdown near the bottom right of the window.
