really not bad at all. i got 90% on expert and 5 starred it, it took me a few tries but i got it. i even unlocked the badass guitar to prove it

Isn't this your first GH game? Correct me if I'm wrong...
I highly doubt I'll be able to pass the intro... which I'm told is the hardest part...

Figured I'd bump this rather than making a new topic on the same subject.

I like to think I'm pretty good at this game... I've five-starred nearly all of Hard and most of Expert. But no matter what I do, I can't get past the intro to this damn song. Is there some technique to doing it? I mean, I played some guy online who perfected the intro (the same one I can't even survive) and then didn't really do much better than me for the rest of the song, so I assume there must be some specific method of playing it which he knows and I don't. Anyone know what this might be? (And just holding down the green button doesn't count, I do that.)

It is, I'm up to 42% now.

^Meh, I think there's a technique to it, you could try HOPOs with two hands and try strumming with your elbow when need be, but they may get uncomfortable.

Well... tried that... didn't work very well, plus I felt like a chicken. (What with the flapping my elbow up and down and all.) Maybe with practice though.

edit: I made it! ...past the intro, anyway. I can do it somewhat regularly now, maybe one out of every four or five tries. I got to 68% twice, but the solo killed me. However, I haven't gotten there with as much star power as I could want, so there's certainly hope.

I've hit 82-83%. I figure if I can get the star power in the middle of the solos, I'll be able to survive. Maybe. Having trouble with it though.

Idon't believe what you hear is the keyboard. The different sounds you do hear are from the guitarist pressing on pedals to change the sound. Tom Morello uses pedals.

Yeh that 2 hands technique is called "tapping" and there's plenty of utube vids. Just search how to tap intro

The intro isn't keyboard. It's an acoustic guitar.

As for the tapping, I've tried it. Hard as hell. Maybe it's just me, but I can't keep my fingers with the rhythm. The first two I can, but my ring and pinky fingers don't press the button fast enough or something.
