"It looked easy"

"It looked easy," I said, trying to cover my shame at failing miserably at a random medium difficulty song.

It didn't strike me as I watched all the other people play them that you must press the buttons and strum at the same time.

"Well, it's got a steep learning curve," I announced, again trying to cover my shame.

When my turn came around again, I tried an easy song. One of the easiests, I'm not sure which one though. I beat it with a small bit of trouble, but I was getting the hang of it.

I watched the other two who were playing, and then it came to be my turn.

"Why don't you try a medium song?" Said one kid next to me with oversized lips, who's name remains a mystery to me. I knew I couldn't do it, but for humor's sake, I attempted it.

I beat it, amazing the other two with things they couldn't even do well. My second time playing Guitar Hero III, I had beaten a medium song.

"Huh, I guess I'm just a little bit faster at learning than you," I said with a secret pleasure to the kid next to me who was stuck on easy.

In the end, I decided to get Guitar Hero III for the Wii, although I'm a bit worried I won't be satisfied with it. I've never in my life liked Hard Rock, and still don't, but just from what I played in the Hobby shop, I've concluded there are at the very least, two handfuls of songs that I like.

But either way, I will absolutely love the feeling when I go into the Hobby shop next weekend, as always, and show that kid how good I've gotten with a weeks worth of steady playing. I mean, I've got nothing better to do, so I'll probably be on at least Hard.

Mm, either way, I've forgotten why I made this topic, but I'm posting it anyway because I spent some time typing it.

This reminds me of something that actually happened this morning. I was at Wal-Mart, looking for a Wii Points card, when I saw a kid at the Guitar Hero 2 booth, trying to do Shout at the Devil Expert. Failed. Of course, I could have just took the Guitar Controller from him and showed him how to do it, but I needed the Points card and needed to get home quickly.

Roffels, Expert.

I can safely say that was what I thought when I first played "Guitar Hero 3".

I had trouble getting used to the idea that I had to strum and press the buttons at the same time. I've adjusted now, and I have 5 starred a few songs on Easy. Planning to beat the Easy story before going to normal, thats for SURE!

The demos and the actual songs are different. I tried YYZ on Expert. Easier than the actual one on Expert.

Well, I've done all the songs on Medium.

I struggled quite a bit with Slash, and then a lot with Lou, but I finally beat Lou this morning.

After playing Guitar Hero III for six hours straight, I conclude they in fact did not intend for you to do so.

The big problems with battles I have is when they get a "Whammy"

For some reason I can't rid my self of it. What the hell do you do to get rid of it, rather than, er, use it in the same manner you do when you come across a note that's held?

I've never played GH at a store kiosk. Mostly because I've never seen a store kiosk with a regular controller, and I'd feel silly using the guitar.

Oh, I'm rather embarressed to realize why I couldn't rid myself of the Whammy.

I was actually pressing it too rapidly, when I should've let it reset to it's position.

I've got five star on every medium song except 8th tier, "Battle For Your Soul," which I will attempt when I get home.

Regardless of whether I five star them all or not, I'm going on to hard, which I've already cleared 1st tier on.

right on. I love watching people play for the first time. Not because they fail the first couple songs, but rather the look they give you like "oh my ****, I'm doing it!" when it clicks and they are on and rockin out. LOVE it. Also I think people remain on easy for too long.

i saw something about playing it at a store kiosk and i have a story to tell now. lol

i was walking around a walmart one day and saw they had the full version of gh2 up. so i thought what the hell. everyone was sucking really bad at the game and it got to my turn. i put it on expert and everyone looked at me in amazement like (oh **** hes not gonna do what i think he is!!) well, of course you know me, i did. i played jordan....

ripping fastness and killing the song like no tomorrow. showing it who's boss.
people were freaking out and couldnt believe someone like me existed. a true guitar hero.

when the song was done and my score displayed, a crowd of about 60 people hoarding around me roared with applause and i was awarded a 50 dollar gift certifcate. a guy walked up to me and said "you deserve to be cocky. go ahead and tell everyone how youre better than them cos there couldnt be anyone better than you" another couple of guys came up to me and did the whole waynes world "we're not worthy" bit lol. it was an interesting day and i must say i would kill to be in that position again.

but trust me, playing on expert and destroying the hardest song in public and getting a huge score will gain you huge respect in the gaming world. i thought there was going to be kids saying "i could pwn you!!!" "i know someone who would totally woop you you n00b!" lol

anyways, i thought it would be an interesting little thing for me to post that,

best of luck to you and may you get to expert mode and woop its ass!
peace

Greatest thing ever.

I went down this Saturday, and said "I'm going to be crazy and do an Expert song."

I was comforted with kids saying things like, "No way," or "Naaahh."

Paint It Black was what I played. The brat was just staring at the screen with his mouth open, and his older brother just twiddled his thumbs and said, "How long have you been playing?!"

The best part was that they honestly think the only time I had ever played was last weekend.

So, in a week, I passed all Medium songs, all Hard songs (except Raining Blood, dammit!), and half of the Expert songs.

This weekend was so worth $80.

I have to say that i found lou easier than Slash for some reason.

I did however have the same problem as you tho. if your doing the whammy bar in the reall game you'll see the note doesn't really bend much.

i found that just kinda pulling on the Whammy bar, with not so much pressure as to break anything, just to test, and since doing that it's worked perfectly.

tell me if it works.

^ Depends on the difficulty. I suppose on easier difficulties (Sorry, but Hard IS easy. ), it could be easier beating Lou due to the constant beat instead of the rips on Slash's Battle. Expert? No way.

My story and my plea! (It was easy)

I started out beastly too and did pretty well on an easy and two med's at a friends house. They we're all "yeh man ur doing much better than our 1st time!" and then they start shredding through paint it and 3s n 7s on expert... *jaw dropped* but they kept saying I'd get there eventually lol

Anyway I just got it 4 xmas and I wanted to get good and show them up, so I went straight for hard; didn't even look at easy or med. Now... I three* my way to 8th tier, right? and I give my all to raining blood and I'm thinking "No fkin way...period!" so I go down to easy and med (I was just in that sort of mood after such extreme pwnage from a game!><) and 5* easy (tedious!!) then move to medium and 5* with... relative ease as well. So I'm ready to beat 8th tier now right? Hell NO! I'm even worse! @#%! my lazy as pinky! but at least I worked up the balls to try the others. Cliffs of dover (cool song) and number of the beast took some doing but got done ^^ and now I've got the fast solo's of One laughing at my clumsy and pathetic fingers! I've gotten 79% too many times to count...

I'm now half-way through expert and I still can't work out the fast solo OR mosh 1. wtf am I supposed to do!? Sighs* after looking around the web it seems I'm not the only one who's in this mess. but of all the furoms I've looked on there's none with real advice for it! but this isn't a help thread anyway so forget that Anyway I just wanted to put in my 2 cents... these last 3 days have been insane, it's obviously a great game, I just can't believe I started so late! I want to check 'I, 'II, and the 80's!

I'm at the guitar battle with Tom Morello on hard mode right now and I thought he would've been easy since I beat his ass on medium and easy but he's hell! I can't even get to him on expert.

I'm on the Loucifer battle on Hard.

One thing I've noticed, being on both sides of the fence (The "Guitar player" and the "Guitar Hero player"), is that one does not make you good at the other. Real guitar does not make you better at Guitar Hero, and Guitar Hero does not make you better at real guitar.

On to my story of how I discovered Guitar Hero, I was in a Gamestop one day with a few of my friends when I saw the kiosk. I tried Heart Shaped Box on easy, passed it, and was happy. 6 months later, GH3 came out, and I bought it. The rest is history.

I'm sure of that. But I'm on hard now. I cleared medium and easy. I have a feeling I'm gonna have a hell of a time beating Lou at the end and Slash!

I was at Best Buy today, noticing they had both a demo of Rock Band and GH3 (Les Paul controller, finally!) I first tried Rock Band. However, the controller was broken, so I waited until GH3 freed up. Once it did, I stole the controller, felt its awesomeness, then proceeded with the good old Scorpions song. Five starred, over 200k points. Nailed the solo nicely. But it wasn't enough, for I needed an audience! So I went on to Even Flow and soon, I had a couple people watching me. Me, a complete stranger, impressing these young kids with my Expert skills! The song finished, I placed the Les Paul down, and walked away... covered in sweat.
