| Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | It helps having at least some background playing a real instrument, reading real music and playing to a tempo. If at all possible, go back in time and convince yourself that those piano lessons weren't completely useless for your gaming career. My big tip is to rest your hand on the red-yellow-blue-orange keys; your index finger is more adept at reaching two notes than your pinky is. Play over songs and really try to hit the hammer-ons and pull-offs instead of strumming them like a lame person would. You're not lame, right? |

Probably the most important thing to master first is consistently picking/strumming down and up alternately. ALSO It helps me to not look above half way up the HUD. I catch the notes about half way down and follow them until they hit the button markers. Hope that helps Last edited by earh0x; 11-07-2007 at 06:16 PM. |

Because the controller should not make you think you can actually play a guitar, strumming can be done however the hell you please. I do thumb and switch to pick-holding during sixteenth-like notes. |

Proof: My first failure is on Knights of Cydonia on Medium. DAMN, I couldn't keep up with the "Galloping" notes. I know that I needed Hammer-up to get through, but when I tried that portion of the song, I kept hitting the note I needed to use Hammer-up to hit instead of the note before. Failure was moments away... Sorry I bored you guys, but I wanted to get that out there... | |

I can only play the first 3 tiers on expert, though, and Paint it Black keeps kicking my ass. |
