Guitar Hero IV details

In the game there are Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park, Sublime, The Answer, and I've heard things about Def Leppard.

There's going to be drums and a mic. You will also be able to make custom songs.

Heh. I bet the game auto-fails you if you try playing the drums on Def Leppard songs with both hands.

I heard that all songs are going to be master recordings. Kind of defeats the purpose of Bonus Songs aside from putting the hardest one in Bonus. There's going to be something about a Piano as well.

I thought the purpose of bonus songs was that they're by lesser-known bands, including several with employees of Harmonix as members. She Bangs the Drums was a re-recording.

Drums and a mic? The hell, Rock Band already exists. Piano might be cool, although I'm skeptical.

edit: Yeah, I looked it up and they're basically adding another cymbal to the drum pad and doing Rock Band 2, as far as I can tell. There are a few cool new features, but probably nothing worth what I imagine the price tag will be if you already have RB.

I hardly consider Buckethead and Dragonforce to be lesser known.

dragonforce was the ultra song, so it didn't follow that rule.

I've never heard of buckethead, so there. also i think that was the GH2 ultra song so

You know, I neverminded 'Rock Band' because I didn't feel like ponying up $170 for it. Pretty disappointed that they decided to do that in a GH title.

Well, I'm sure you can still buy the disk separately and treat it like a normal GH game.

Rock Band could also be bought alone. It's just that the game had the drums, which is an exclusive piece to Rock Band. The Mic and Guitar controllers could be used from other games.

^Yeah. You know, I really was aware that RB was available as a stand-alone product without all the extra kit. Like, from going into game stores and Best Buy and such, and using the power of 'looking around at things'.

Call me old-fashioned, but when my options are a) buying the game and only being able to play one third of it, and b) spending $110 extra to play the whole thing, I tend to go with c) buying some other game and then riding home on my magical pet unicorn, Sugartwinkle. (Not that I have one, of course--I'm just talking a hypothetical ideal situation, here.)
