Well... I found my drive to actually post here again. I would really love to renew my fervor with some sort of massive event, so if anyone would like to suggest a tournament of anything of the sort, please, feel more than free.

I'd really like to know if you guys want to do a tournament or not. If so, do you want to do another NLBFT, a Tournament of Red Lions, or something new altogether. I have a couple of interesting ideas, one suggested by Acradius, if anyone wants to go for the latter.

Dunno, guys. I'd really like to hear the majority opinion on this. If you have a suggestion for an event or special free-for-all or what have you, feel free to put if forward.

The only one that I can remember offhand is Acradius's "Strange Bedfellows" tournament. The idea is to do a round with a certain partner, and in the next round, mix the teams up. There's probably a few more ideas that can be added to that scenario to make it even more interesting.

Anyway, sorry Inferno, but Trial by Fire was very generic. If we were to do a tournament, there'd be no point in adding some random story to it and then forcing someone to fight in a predetermined Arena. One would prefer to choose their own damn arena, although the TORL tends to also predetermine the arena. Even so, if we were to do a story tournament, we'd probably be better off doing an NLBFT to keep away from having too many clones.

Unless, of course, you have a better, more interesting idea for a tournament.

well there was a twist for the trial by fire tourni. for the final battle, the last combatent would have to face me in a one on one battle to gain the championship cup/belt/trophy/whatever I was planning to give out.

the reason I suggested this tourniment in particuler was because when I first came here back in 2001 I heald this same tourniment as my long defunct character fire master and at the end my character fire master revealed himself to be Inferno and fought the tourniment's winner in a one on one battle. I lost but it was a fun twist ending to the tourni at the time.

of course you wouldn't know about it galefore, it was before your time here. it was also back when we had four battlefields and this one was still called the Nintendoland battlefield. but repster would, in fact he was one of the combatants in that tourny if I remember correctly.

Bring what tournament you want, though my new philosophy is to seek out all the other people and fight them one by one--much more satisfying for me, anyway, as then there can be draws and endings which don't specifically call one person or the other an absolute winner/loser. Rather it can demonstrate what each side really can do.

That said, I will be ready to take on all comers and wreak bloody vengeance should a tournament occur.

Does anyone remember Wyborn's Farewell Battle (Well, he's returned since then) a long time ago, when many characters were facing one insanely powerful enemy (Terror)? We could do something like that.

As soon as I know if anyone wants to do another one just yet. It's been a few months since the last one, but I don't know if everyone is ready yet. The last one was apparently pretty disastrous.

Just out of curiosity, are there any prerequisites to entering the tournaments? I may not be a consistent poster here so I'd definitely have to think it over, but what if I did want to join?

There are no prerequisites. I prefer Judges to be experienced and wise, but as for the combatants, anyone can play.

I still think we should do my trial by fire tournament. It was a precursor to the NLBF and tournament of red lions after all, kind of a prototype of the tournaments we know today. plus the winner gets an awsome trophy and a chance to fight me. let me see if I can find it and bump it.

Inferno, I'm sorry, but I doubt it was Trial By Fire that inspired R18 to make the NLBFT. It may have had a part in it, but the NLBFT is a very general, very simple tournament. Plus, if you're going to play the "Final Battle" gimmick, at least revamp the storyline or, perhaps, get somebody damn-near impossible to beat to be the final tier of the tournament. I can see that sort of topic, though; a single person running through a series of fights to end up in a match with some Godly character.

Sorry, Inferno, but unless the people of this topic express interest in a Trial by Fire tournament or something similar, you'll just have to independently host one. As evidenced by your last try, not many people seemed interested.

Hmm, isn't there a tournament around here that isn't necessarily determined by winning or losing? Rather which person wrote/made a more interesting battle or something?(I don't think it was Red Lions, but it may).

Otherwise, the NLBFT sounds decent to me.

Maybe something like this can get me interested in roleplaying once more.
