Before long, I will be assembling a large list of my favorites and of the great battles that shaped our history... In the meantime, feel free to post your favorite bits. Here's one for now: Traveler suggested the battle between me and rep... Because I am overall dissatisfied with my performance in that battle, I have decided instead to post a similar battle involving myself and Orchis that was finished and judged: http://www.vgf.com/forums/gunjin-bat...-galefore.html |

He was this huge crazy dark beast called Terror or Chaos or something and everyone had to team up against it, which we didn't succeed at, but it was still pretty epic. Of course the aforementioned Noob Vapor™ sucked at it, though, but it deserves to be here. Can anyone find it? |

I don't think you were in those, though. Also, checking this has made me realize just how many battles I've been in. Update: Here's my old crunky battles. Plus me being a judge in the 7th NLBFT. Yeah. I'm older than dirt. O_o January 19th 2004: Metal Man... IN SPACE - WTF October 17th 2003: I was a judge in the 7th annual NLBFT. WTF?!?! Sept 22nd 2003: Metal Man vs. Parrakarry - Non-starter June 9th 2003: Metal Man vs. Too Many People - WTF, I wanted to fight 10 people at once? May 30th 2003: Metal Man vs. DARTH BOWSER - Non-Starter May 8th 2003: Metal Man on the ARK Free for all March 9th 2003: Metal Man vs. Saiku - Non-starter January 22nd 2003: Metal Man vs. Hell Knight January 22nd 2003: Metal Man cheating in a Capture the Flag Battle January 16th 2003: Metal Man in the War at the military base (Oldbie central) May 15th 2002: Metal Man vs. Demonoid - Finished, even sort of predicted it would be linked again. Wacky and old, but a good example of 'Old' Gunjin. There's older ones, but those were lost to time. The ones I remember are me fighting people with Crystal hammers at the end of Hyrule Battlefield 3, attacking people on Lon Lon ranch in the pre-Gunjin monthly Nintendoland Battlefield club topic, and another topic where Chunky spammed rivers of lava. Oh yeah, and the neverending Candy war in the now lost SEGA Battlefield's old topics. Mostly me vs. Jolteon. Last edited by Metal Man; 01-12-2010 at 02:18 AM. |

I was greatly disappointed to find a battle here between Wyborn and Islaitha Frost that was phenomenal on the first page, but then degenerated into an argument on the subsequent pages. Still, the epicness of that battle and the importance of the discussion afterwards warrant a link. Other non-battle topics that merely amounted to discussions have enabled to relive the history of this site even though I was not present; I will begin hunting them down when I have more time. Links to all tournaments would be great too. I will begin cataloging them as well. |

Although the people we brought here from KAF seemed to be arrogant enough in their own right (except for Negi, who's a cool guy), it was mostly my fault that any of it ever happened. However, you are right. That fight was incredible, and it was some of Wybie's finest writing. The argument, on the other hand, was just ridiculous. In my opinion, it was just a circular debate regarding our rules, which in itself had already happened several times in other topics, and I really think Wyborn won that debate. For any interested parties, here's a link. NOTE: Apologies if these topics have my name highlighted. I searched for the majority of them in the search engine. Alright, here's some more stuff. I'll start our by linking some good battles involving myself, and then I'll link my personal favorite NLBFTs and great story topics and point out the highlights. STUFF WITH ME (Note: I don't think I've been in a single consistent battle since some time in either late '07 or early '08. If the battles linked here feel at all newbish, that's something I definitely apologize for... But hey. Also, these are mostly finished and judged battles, although I will be linking some that never truly got off the ground.) NLBFT 12, versus Vapor: This is the third round of the infamous 12th NLBFT, infamous only because of the controversies surrounding Karg and Inferno at the time and because of everyone's haste to drop out. This was my personal favorite fight of the tournament that I was involved in (just barely edging over the one with Lycrios (here) just because I have a soft spot for Erasmus), versus Vapor, who put up one hell of a fight. NLBFT 11, versus Acradius: This was the year after I won the previous tournament, but this time I was eliminated in the first round by the ultra-talented Acradius. I like to think I put up a good fight, though. Herein is contained my longest single post (5 pages in Word) and one of my favorite character concepts. As a note, this round also has some particularly interesting nuggets of awesome, including Selene versus Dhampir. Open Challenge versus Seraph: For a while I considered this my personal best, and to an extent I still do. This was a really interesting little fight, despite my relative newbiehood at the time that it began. Seraph probably gave Galefore the toughest workout he had ever had, up until... 10th NLBFT Championship round versus Bomby: This one was just plain cool. I really enjoyed participating in this entire tournament, but this battle (and the one with Rep (which was probably a little better overall, so it's here)) was the best. I always did think Bomby deserved the win here, although back then I would never have admitted it. Despite two out of three judges agreeing that Bomby was the winner, I still won by .1 in the final tally (thx tazy) and got to join that hallowed hall of warriors who can claim the very same championship position. Again, very cool battle. Sparring match, versus Scarred Wings: This was probably my most important battle, not only as a battlefielder but also as a writer in general. It was a rather newbish affair involving a fellow newb that went on for a few short posts before we dragged the great Selene in to judge. Although the judging did not go so well for either of us, it inspired me to completely revamp my style, resulting in much more creative freedom and (in my opinion) much better battles. My first official Gunjin battle, versus "Yaminah": This was back before I even knew to use spaces between my sentences. Yes, five years ago (almost to the day), I joined this forum and spewed out about six identical "IF YOU'RE HERE FIGHT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" challenges. I was mostly humored by newbs, but this one became infamous for containing the famous "tombstone" instakill, my first experience with a god-moder. Very interesting read nowadays, especially now that I've "come so far"... Or so I hope. ![]() The following are battles that did not finish, but were pretty cool: Versus Erdawn: This one is one that I really wish had gotten off the ground. It contains one of my personal favorite opening posts and it's just a damn shame that Erdawn got too busy to go on. Oh well. EDIT: I didn't actually reread this before posting it, and now that I have, I'd like to point out to the reader that there is a small debate about the classic "field of battle" battlefield that Repster posted ages ago and that has been used for ages as a good, simple, SMASH THE **** OUT OF YOUR ENEMY YEAAAAAAH sort of setting. If you ever have any doubts about using it, Erdawn lays them to rest here in his trademark blunt way. Also, here's a fun drinking game: take a shot every time you wince at the attempted (and failed) badassery in my first rebuttal to scripture. ![]() Versus Wyborn: Again. I really liked my character in this one, and I was expecting this to continue, but I ended up dropping it out of laziness and overloading myself with other battles (not to mention a tournament). So, here we have another great one that should have been amazing. AAaaaaand here are some really awesome topics that personally influenced me and probably everyone else: The Teuful Jihad: One of the more infamous topics here. Full of great action from our 'veterans', this huge blowout has had a longlasting influence. In fact, my very own "Oceansford" topic has been compared to a more manageable version of this, so maybe this could serve as a bit of an inspiration for your posts within the current giant superblowout yeaaaaah The 8th NLBFT, round 1: Although it too was plagued by controversy, round one contains unquestionably some of the greatest fights ever. I recommend Round 1 wholeheartedly, especially Wyborn versus Dusty, but feel free to peruse the other rounds as well. The Second Tournament of Red Lions (all rounds) Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Final I had the pleasure of judging this epic, and because of this I got to read some ****ing epic battles. Highlights include the match between ****ing God of War Kratos and a robot (which I wrongfully argued was not brutal enough because it had a robot. I was such a moron) and Repster versus Erdawn, which are both in round 3, as well as the short but sweet final round in which Wyborn hands the win to Erdawn. Each round is a gory and visceral collection of awesomewin that the Gunjin should definitely have again very soon. MOAR LATER Last edited by Galefore; 01-12-2010 at 03:55 PM. |

Example of a very successful free for all, multiple pages. Nothing like the old days of the 20+ page battles but it's not like the writing was any good back then anyway. Fun stuff. *ninja away* |

All four of us were caught somewhere between epic awesome and epic fale. Why did I never reply to the end? I have no clue honestly. I was probably just busy with something else. Its a pity really, 'cause I would've personally have liked to have seen it end. |
