Newbie looking for his first battle

Yeah, I'm looking for my first RP at VGF... So whoever accepts this can decide if they want to make the opener or if they want me to. I hope my first can be fun.

EDIT: Oh, yes, and by the by, my character is on the last page of the Book of Warriors.

I'll fight you. My character Erasmus is my choice of Warrior, and He's on page 11. I'll let you open.
I picked him because he's sorta like your character. A competition of the insane world destruction guys.

Very well then. This could get interesting...

A cold faint breeze brushed over the landscape. Grass across the plains was swept up and danced in the flowing breeze. The dead of night was cursed upon the landscape and eternal darkness was only vanquished by a bold full moon that hung in the sky and casted a silver illumination down upon the earth.

In the silver moonlight a figure wandered onto the scene. He was long and moved as no more than a shadow in the night, his feet making no sound, and his breath seemed to be in sync with the breeze. A long trenchcoat danced behing him and his long skinny body looked like a glowing spectre in the silver rays of the moon. He looked up into the sky and was met by the watchfull eye of that full moon. A grin broke over his thin lips as he returned a malevolent glare to the silver orb in the sky. He muttered something under his breath that became lost in the whistling wind and looked back toward the path ahead.

From what his eyes could tell the plain was flat and empty, except for a single welll that lay a few feet from him. Feeling a certain dryness in the back of his throat upon the seeing of the well, he moved toward it. Looking down into its murky depths he saw a tiny pool of black liquid rippling some twenty feet below. A wooden pail was found at his feet and he lifted it from the ground and dropped it into the well. The pail fell silently until it met the black pool at the bottom with a splash. He quickly reeled it back up and dipped a hand into the frigid water, splashing the water onto his face he took a big gulp of the liquid. It was cool and quenched his thirst nicely but tasted of iron as most wells across the plains did.

Then he thought he felt a change in the atmosphere. A new rapidness in the waves of the breeze. Maybe this was no more than nature changing its course... Or maybe it was something else, but for now he'd walk the plains. And if something a stone rolled in his way so be it, maybe he'd kick aside, maybe he'd walk around if it was too big, and if it were too big to walk around, he'd walk right through.

A cold night. Though it was in an unfamiliar place, it was a cold night, and it was his favorite kind. Despite the fact that only the wind chilled this grassy landscape, it was still a welcome and friendly breeze to the man that sat silently there. He was an old looking fellow, with a heavy frown on his face. He had wandered from his home into this grassland, and now wondered the reason of his coming. Perhaps it was for some devious purpose of destruction, which he pondered the exact kind, or maybe to simply stay here as a stage on his journey to the salvation of humanity. If only he knew that his attempts to be an almighty justice in kindness were nothing more than attempts to be a harbinger of death to the world. But, Erasmus didn't know, and he was doomed to this perspective through his entirity in existence.

There was almost no sign of life here. He sensed not a single drop of intelligence, nor did he feel any of the despicable joy that a human soul harbors. But that was the trick. The only soul around, as Erasmus would discover, was devoid of that joy in his soul, and he was near, whoever he was. Erasmus sighed heavily at the thought, but knowing that there was life here meant that he needed to destroy it to be one step closer on his journey. So that was his resolution.

He creapt closer to this flicker of life that he sensed, and caught a glimpse of a tall human's form. He materialized a sword and stepped closser.

Sorry for the delay. Computer crash. A thousand apologies.

A sudden burst of wind aroused Jack's senses and he looked about him. For a moment that hung within eternity he had allowed himself to drift away, into the water of the well, and then beyond that to a world only he knew deep within the chasms of his mind. But that place had faded in the wake of the wind and the oncoming whistle that rang through his mind caused him to look around.

There, a good one-hundred feet from him, Jack saw a figure slowly descending from the darkness. He watched as the silver just began to splash over thi new entity giving life to its aged form. It was an old man, but what Jack more immediatly recognized was the weapon this old man gripped in his hand.

A devilish grin suddenly flashed upon the face of Jack, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." He had a cold raspy voice that stung at the ears of most people, but Jack saw that the old man hardly reacted.

Jack reached his right hand into his pocket and the sound of metal scratching against metal filled the air, it was as if Jack had a ring of keys in his pocket. Of course he did not, what he did have were small metal stingers which he grabbed about five of. Jack had decided the instant he saw the sword that the old man would have to be dealt with, and even without that weapon in hand Jack detected a strange sort of malice almost familiar. Almost familiar but he couldn't quite grasp where the familiarity came from. None the less, the next move Jack made would no doubt turn the situation into a battle; Jack sensed this man would not fall easy.

He waited for a single moment and when it came he uttered, "99 feet, welcome to the eighth circle, old timer." He abruptly whipped his hand out of his pocket and sent the five steel stingers soaring through the air. The flowed through the breeze like fish in a stream and rapidly coursed for the old man. Jack either had some superhuman aim or some other secret for the trajectory of these five darts were deadly. Jugglar, heart, arteries in each wrist, and forehead. They cut through the air in silver streaks much like the rays of the moon, coming closer, closer, twenty five feet now.

Erasmus stared at these pointed projectiles. He was amazed that a mere soul in front of him could create such items, or even use them. The skill with which they were thrown seemed incredible enough, and this would be a killing stroke to most. Erasmus stood still for a moment, and then, he snapped his old, slightly shrivelled fingers. A wall of ice appeared everywhere, except for his right arm, from which he transfered his sword to his left, which he allowed a hit upon. The other darts hit and clinged to the sticky ice, and their prescense was frozen. Erasmus cut the wall with the sword in his left hand, and it shattered. The dart flew through his arm, and Erasmus twitched for a second. He then smiled, and as his blue blood poured, he created a shell, which expanded into a gauntlet, which then materialized a 60 inch wide shield. This new implement was a sight, but the limply hanging arm it adorned wasn't. It soon regained its strength, however, as the old wizard held the shield high. He then walked slowly towards the man before him. The fact that he had survived a direct hit to the arteries was strange, but...

Jack wasn't truly impressed, as mentally sustainable. He was simply staring with a grin, and apparently preparing another assault. The man before Erasmus was now visible. He was a tall, incredibly thin, ghost-faced devil. He seemed human, but there was an indescribable hate in his prescense, and it was a calculated hate, reaching an estimated level most likely the same as the formerly pacifist Erasmus. When did there ever some an equal?

"Another cursed devil who challenges my prescense? You are no hope killer, fiend. I will take your life as another hitch on the road to the Earth's Glorious death!"

Erasmus didn't quite scare the grinning man before him. The evil simply stared harder, with a cold gaze.

Erasmus seemed provoked. Instantly, he felt the urge to quell this phantom prescense. He halted his march, the slowly drew back, tossing his sword at the man. Jack seemed visibly ready to dodge. As soon as it was seven yards in front of Jack, Erasmus tore one of the spikes from his shoulder, and threw it at a greater velocity. Erasmus stared at his handiwork, and hoped for a solid hit.

A cold shrill laughter broke through the air, the sound erupted from Jack as he looked on the two projectiles flying at him. He jumped back away from the first, his strange wirey form moving like a flickering shadow, and landed in the trajectory of the second. He made on odd flicking motion with one hand toward the icy spear. The movement seemed too late, and the spear lodged its way within his right shoulder, but it stopped but an inch beneath his flesh. The moon gave away the secret behind the abrupt stop of the spike; there lined across the spikes edges were four of those dart heads lodged within the ice, the same four that Erasmus had blocked with his ice wall.

Jack, still grinning, tore the ice from him, a spray of blood following. The red liquid streamed down his black form and glistened in the pale moon light. He tossed the ice spear aside, and noticed that some of his blood had flowed down onto his hand. Bringing this hand up to his face, he licked his palm clean of the blood.

"Interesting, interesting" Jack said after licking his whole hand clean, well almost clean the blood seemed to smudge instead of disappear, " The Earth's death he says? Ragnarok, he says? And how did he hope to do that? Coming from the darkness and raping my trust with that weapon drawn? Filthy humans don't deserve my trust! I gave it to them at first, and they took and took."

Jack choked out another twisted laugh, this one not as high and shrill as the last but disquieting nonetheless. He reached his hand down into another pocket of his coat, keeping his eyes on the old man who looked ready to counter whatever Jack through next.

"Miserable, wretched beings, existing in this reality before me no more than whipped dogs!" Jack drew from his pocket three unhinged collars, "So put on your collar and shut up!"

Jack whipped the hand out again, sending the three collars spread out before him. He kept his right hand open palmed and pointed out as the collars went through the air. The middle one flew straight, aimed right for the old man's throat. But the other two flew in a strange way, they moved much quicker and were at the old man's sides in no time, but instead of zooming by, they stopped and moved a few feet out of his reach and simply hovered there. As soon as the other two were in position the third immediatly got a burst of speed and took off like a bullet for the old mans throat. The ploy ran through Jack's mind, "Go ahead and block the first, then I'll send in the second. Can you block that old man? If so I've got a third. One of em's bound to latch itself around your neck and once that happens, well then you're no more than a dog after all!"

"...You've no soul, blackened devil. You can call me human, if thats your soul's desire, but you would be mistaken. The human's stole from me as well. And do think you have a true reason for your actions, or being?" Said Erasmus. He was apparently ignoring the collars altogether. He grinned with a terrible malice, and stared at the three. The first was speeding, but not for long. He used his shield to block it, then the second hurtled towards him. He materialized a sword, and with a dull "clunk", the collar fell to a well timed block. The third was there in no time, wrapping around his neck. It shocked him, and Erasmus liquid blood soon began to boil. The blue liquid poored out of his gaping lips, then, suddenly, a ring of spikes flung out of his neck. It destroyed the collar, and the olden warrior laughed. The blood trickled from his mouth, then he spat a large blue chunk into his hand. With a devil's resolve, he stared at the still unimpressed man. There was a quiet moment, then Erasmus threw the blood to the ground.

Suddenly, the blood hurtled towards Thripper, and it began to harden. The ice morphed into more swords, a near repeat of the last projectile based assault, or so it seemed. Erasmus was close behind.

Jack grinned wider, and materialized from his coat a handful of the needle-like things he had thrown in his previous attempt. Skillfully, the strange man threw them until every last sword fell, not a single one touching, but that was the point. Erasmus flew to the Enemy's face in a dash uncharacteristic of the elderly. He drew another blue blade and swung it at the near-skeletal Jack's throat...

OOC: I'm going to a retreat next week, so I won't be here. I look forward to continuing the fight when I have returned.
