Ladies and gentlemen, lately I have been recording and saving battles of my generation here to my hard-drive for future reference and future reading. And now I am looking for some topics that were deleted from the board due to whatever the Hell.

So, anyone, who has any notable battle-topic saved or recorded or something, whether it be the first battle between Phenom and Wyborn, or the first time Shinigami and Phenom crossed swords in the Galactic Kirby tournament...

Um, I actually don't have any battles saved or anything. It's a shame, cause I really should. Never know when there's gonna be some crazy crash or something.

Anybody? Come on... there has to be somebody who might have saved a topic or two. I'm just looking for some good reads by the old giants and still-around giants; Shinigami, Wyborn, Phenom, Joker, IronWarrior, JK, (etc.) -- anything, really. As long as it's a good read, a cool fight...

You only have limited control, though; you cannot go into the topics themselves. However, I remember a site a few years back that had the ability to go into a some, if not all, pages.

I think Shane had the robots.txt disallow the archivers (and search engines too.) Since then, we've come onto google, which should help with our membership. Did you change the file, Shane?

From what I read in that archive, Robots.txt is a something that a webmaster can put on his page to forbid or restrict what kind of crawlers go onto it (and archive it, for instance).

Shane Robots.txted most of VGF itself but not, I believe, the forums.

I used to have some different battles on floppies from waaaaay back before the crash... and the different BF's. I don't know if they're accessible anymore. Some won't read on this computer. Perhaps, I'll have time to look through a few sooner or later but in the meantime, good luck with your search.

Overlooking this, there was still, the hour or two of digging around it, finding the former VGF Forums URL somehow, then the former battlefield archives, then how to get to some (though not nearly enough of the posts). T___T()

If you'd like my statue, though, we can get it remolded in your image and have you recieve the flower petals every morning.

By the way, Erdawn, you know of the Forum Archives, ne? ^^() Not much there, but that is the official Archive for the forum... therein lies the 6th and 7th Annual NBLF tourney fights, as well as a few other BF things. http://www.vgf.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubbcg...f=77&submit=Go

By the by, there are a notable things that should go inside the archive before they are lost. (Like the 8th NBLF tourney.) @_@()

I went through a handful of disks yesterday... more than a quarter are not registering as formatted so I'll drag the laptop out at a later time... do you already have "A test of character" and "Phen vs Tubs"?

I also found some battling "rules" someone wrote up for me a VERY long time ago but not certain whom it was now. And two other battles which embarrass me now and you can't see. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

And, this was traumatic reading ( [img]tongue.gif[/img] ) ...old Misc and Zelda forum stuff too. OHMYGOSH... I've been here a long time and so have some of you!!

Bah. I never knew I had quite this many disks. Thank goodness for CD's now. Oh and I learnt that a faerie's labelling system really needs an overhaul. "Various docs." doesn't really describe what's inside clearly.
