This thread is funnier than alot of the other threads in this forum.

Listen Eric, I personally don't think you are ready to be a mod, plus, there's not much glam to it, it doesn't make you instantly loved, it's a responsibility, yeah, you get power, but that's not the whole point of being a mod. Plus even if you win the election, you have gotta go through the mod election, which ISN'T a popularity contest. Trust me.

I'm going to cover two epic-long topics since I love to talk so hopefully I don't lose anyone's attention by the end.

These are all my opinions BTW. I have strong beliefs in what I'm about to say but I can be wrong on certain occasions.



PART ONE: HOW TO BECOME MOD

Alright Kingeric, I believe there are two VERY important reason why you would apply for being a mod:

1. You absolutely must be interested in this forum.

2. You must have a good reputation on VGF.



Now number one is VERY important. You have to show interest in the position you are modding for. If you do become the moderator, then you will HAVE to take part in discussions in the forum you are moderator of to make sure it stays active.

Looking at your posts via your profile, you have wanted to be Mod for Mario Forum, Polls Forum, and Jokes and Riddles forum. Aside from that, I've seen very many posts by you in this VGF House Party Topic.

However, I did not see you taking any part of ANY of the forums you have applied for as moderator. That is number one reason why you wouldn't get my vote.

Now don't be mistaken. I'm not encouraging you to post here. Post here ONLY if you have an interest in this forum, NOT because you want to have an interest. There's a distinct difference between wanting a job because you enjoy it rather than wanting a job because you want the benefits it comes with.



Now number two is a less serious matter compared to number one but still important. You have to show that you can get along with members and engage in discussions properly. I'm sure everyone at some point has been pissed off here by another member at some point.

Personally, there are two instances when I was here I got pissed(recently), but I dismissed them. Because if I flamed I would cause even more problems between the two of us and others. I will admit I have flamed in the past over a few things I thought were ridiculous, and it didn't get me anywhere; I was still pissed in the end.

Basically in number two I am saying just take part in discussions and have a good time. If you're mad, don't take your anger out because it'll just make things worse. As moderator, you sure as hell don't have the right to edit people's posts or lock topics just because you disagree or don't like them.

PART TWO: WHAT IF YOU BECOME MOD?

Now, let's say you do be become mod. What's there to gain really? You sacrifice some of your freedom in exchange for some power.

Advantages:
- You gain a snazzy little title saying "Jokes & Riddles Mod"
- You'll gain power

Disadvantages:
- You'll have to take part in the forum you're modding
- You'll have to be on VGF more frequently if you're a less active poster like myself.



If you become Moderator you'll gain power. Pretty cool huh? Well you're not going to be using this power most of time. Only on few occasions are you going to either lock or move a topic. These powers will virtually be useless.

In exchange, you'll be bound to VGF. You'll have to participate in your forum. It will be your responsibility to make sure your forum is actually producing activity. In this case, you'll have to think of unique ways to keep this forum interesting. Jokes are jokes, I have NO idea in hell what I would do if I miraculously was the mod of this forum. How do you keep it fresh and interesting?

Let's take some very good examples from Zelda Forum that keep it new and interesting:
- Booyakasha has revived Hyrulian War(an old game in the past I learned of recently which is quite addicting).
- Cravdraa has created Zelda Mafia and is soon going to be releasing his second game(very fun game as well)
- Wyborn has put a lot of effort into creating the Majora's Mask topic and keeping it alive, which actually resulted in me playing Majora's Mask again.
- Cucco Lady has hosted a Zelda Caption Contest that I have recently taken part in myself.

These members made a HUGE effort to keep things going and never gave up on their topics. They used a GREAT DEAL of their time and energy to make these topics flourish. You will need to do the same in this forum. The question is, how?



CONCLUSION
- Are you interested in taking part in this forum?
- Are you ready to sacrifice some of your freedom to make this forum flourish with new and interesting topics frequently?
- And most importantly, will you enjoy the position you are applying for?

Now, about that big mod discussion post... I want to be able to help out the Mario forum. The thing is, there isn't much to talk about. I have been trying to post more there, though. And before, I only wanted to be a mod for benifits... then I changed my mind, and I realised that I DID want to help that forum. I am on VGF frequently (almost everyday), and I dont have a big responsibility... But still, I suppose I will enjoy being a mod.

Anyway, I dont want to be mod here.
