I doubt that a person, despite how much Boy Scout training, could tie a slipknot that can support his weight, but free up on his weight plus a few more kilos. |

Maybe 58 if you're really tall. Because the only way to harvest the rope is to cut it, and if you're any higher than 5m up when you cut the rope you're on, you die. Tying the ropes doesn't change this. The final cut cannot reap more than the bottom 7 or 8 meters from the rope you're on; add that to the complete other rope, and you're done. Unless you can throw a knife so hard that it cuts rope, of course, then you could get all of it. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

Sadly, I was wrong. Another hint: You'll need to tie two knots |

Tie the top of the first rope to the near-top of the second rope. Tie the bottoms together. Am I on the right track...? |

Assuming what Ace says is true (and we aren't rendered unable to reach the other rope because the defined length of the person's arm is too short) concerning the amount of rope one can take then one must not need be in the air to cut away enough of the rope to walk away with "nearly all" of it. That's the heart of it: when we make the last cut we're already going to be on the ground. But how? Edit: AH-HA! Climb up rope A, and cut rope B at the top. Climb down rope A and tie rope B to its end, creating the 100-meter long Rope AB. Climb up rope AB high enough that you can secure yourself (perhaps looping a section around your thigh), and pull up a certain length below you - if your body is two meters long, let's cut at a spot three meters below you. Hold onto that 95 meters of rope - put it in your teeth. Now take the 3 meters hanging below you and tie it into a loop. Feed the end of the 95 meters of rope through the loop until both ends are 2.5 meters off the ground. Now grab both sides of the rope and just slide down. When you are on the ground, pull one end of the rope. BAM! Walk out with 95 meters. Adjust to taste, trim off a bit if you want to leave part of rope B as a safety harness.
