Arrow Tee hee.

I had a riddle that everyone ignored. Here it is again.

Imagine you're in a cubical room 50 metres on each side. Roughly in the centre of the ceiling hang two ropes, one metre apart, which dangle down to the floor. Each rope is therefore 50 metres long, and are strong enough to climb up. You are armed only with your trusty knife, Boy Scout knot-tying skills, and monkey-like climbing ability. Each wall is perfectly smooth, though; you cannot climb up the walls like a gecko. You can survive a fall of up to five metres.

There's an exit (on the ground level). Your objective is to leave the room with as much rope as possible. How much rope can you harvest?

Arrow You have failed.

You must leave the room alive; being dead obviates self locomotion.

100m, by cutting the first rope from the second rope, then almost cut the second rope, climb down, and pull it off.

^If you can pull the second rope off from the ground, then it would snap while you were climbing it.

55m plus your own height & reach?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^^ That's way too dangerous. Your mother would worry. For the logical purposes of this riddle, a cut is always a full cut.

You can get more than 55 m.

Remember, you can tie rope together.

This person's arm is about 60 cm long? Whatever how long a normal human arm is.

Hint:
Spoiler Below
You can get almost all of the rope.

What kind of exit, how is it made, and can you cut the walls and/or ceiling with the knife?

Not if you pull it down by jumping and grabbing- if you jump, your effective weight gets multiplied (for an instant) by something like 5 for your usual landing-time. A quick shock of your weight already falling is a much bigger strain on the rope than the already-present constant strain of your weight moving steadily.

Yes, but you have to make a clean cut. My argument's been nulled.

But, I can use that argument to say this:

Climb to the top of the second rope, and tie the first rope a meter down from where the second rope hangs. Cut below the knot. Climb down the first one, then pull down the first one. 99m.

I don't follow your instructions; cut rope #2 below the knot? How do you pull down rope #1 without cutting it?
