Remembering you, Knux...

It’s been five… yes, FIVE… years, Knux. And very rarely does a day or so go by that I haven’t thought of you. You touched my world that much!!!

I see beanie plushies and remember you or hear a song that you used to like or I’ll hear Star Wars theme music and remember your passion or I’ll see an animal being so adorable and think that you’d like that, too. So many triggers…

I have wondered about your family and hope they are doing well. I know you were okay and sent that "message" in the dream. I did pass it along even though I was afraid I’d be considered a fruitloop and it was received with graciousness. Your family rocks!! But you knew that!!

So, five years.

The world keeps spinning, the sun still burns brightly and the rains come and go and with all that, our memories are our bonds.

Memories are special little treasures. And I do indeed treasure my memories of you.

Very welcome, I had a good time getting the colors right, and I was happy to do it for Knux's sake.

I still find it hard to imagine a VGF without him. I think we'd have a lot more activity here, still, if he'd hung on. I hope for his sake he's getting a break from all of the pain he had to endure while he was still with us.

So many things to remember,
the starkest ones are always the last:
Hearing from your brother;
Having to share the news;
Wondering how you could have been so bright
amidst so much struggling.
We reminisce, instead, of Greek dancing,
ripped pants, and collectibles.
Animals and action figures,
your legacy to our memory.
Years of conversation were not enough.
Messages passed back and forth,
reaching the limit, and starting two PMs to carry on.
You saw value in everyone,
even when you argued with them.
You befriended anyone,
through every part of your journey.
I see you in Africa.
And as the giraffes make their stately march,
we cannot know their lofty thoughts,
but I imagine they carry you and honour you
for all the lives you touched.
