Well, my mom has agreed to get DDR for, get this, weight loss... I don't care, I need excercise as well, so why the hell not? We're going for a PS2 so we can play DDR for both of 'em. What DDR games are the best, in your opinions? And if you've got something to say about what pads to get as well, go ahead.

All the DDR mixes are pretty good (although some may not like the Disney mix, but I think it has some pretty good songs you can't get on the others). The first DDR game for the PSX is pretty good. It has a relatively small song list, but it has a nice variety of music. Konamix is all Konami originals, so there isn't any licensed music, but it still has some pretty good song (although most of them are also on the later mixes). DDRMAX and DDRMAX2 are both excellent, with lots of songs and something to please everyone, including several licensed songs like Sandstorm and Get Down Tonight.

As for pads, if you can get the official Konami pad, that's a pretty good one, but they're a little hard to come by unless you get it in the DDRMAX2 bundle (which is also rare). Since most of the other third-party soft pads are poorly made, you may want to get the RedOctane Ignition pad. It has foam inserts and it's pretty sturdy, and it doesn't move around a whole lot either. If you're lucky, you can find them on sale somewhere, but otherwise they cost about $100. That still isn't a bad price though.

I don't know... It's a good deal if you're willing to gamble. I've never seen those pads before, so I can't say if they're good or not.

Question.

Is the DDR TV mat any good? The one mat that hooks up to a TV and you can play DDR?

I'm thinking about asking for that for my birthday.

I think I know what you're talking about, but from what I hear, it's probably poorly made, although maybe good for beginners.

Well, I shouldn't mind, since I haven't begun yet. It has 50 songs with it and runs on 4 AA batteries. I might be able to get it.

Go for it then. Once you get tired of that, go get the console versions.

Meh, the problem is I don't have a PS2/XBox and Gamecube didn't bother getting DDR. Come on! They had it for N64, and for crying out loud, the Game Boy Color actually had it! Yikes...

Oh, and why did you edit my post?

Yeah, they had it on the N64 and GBA, but there was no pad, which is usually the best way to enjoy the game.

Two words: Anime smilie

Oh, and look at this.

Now little kids can start on DDR!

8-bit? I wonder if that's sound or graphics...

And that other one looks incredibly cheap.

Be careful about that, it says "UK" in the middle of it, so there could be a chance it could be PAL and not formatted for your TV.

Well, it looks like it can connect. Are you saying that it may not be able to play it, or it just won't connect?

Err... both.

Not sure about all the technical jargon about it, but electronics in North America, Europe, Asia, etc are all formatted and designed differently, and unless you buy an adapter of some sort they are not interchangable. This is the reason why taking your laptop into say Spain, and then trying to plug it into a wall won't work. Europe's special format is called PAL, wheras ours is called NTSC. I'd email the guy and ask him to be safe, but you're probably safe and it'll probably work since the guy is from California.
