IRHP: Yeah, The Dreamcast didn't really launch at a time where it could directly compete with a Nintendo system. It was in-between the other generations of consoles, and really only got the chance to compete with Sony. You could understand why it really posed no direct threat to Nintendo, and was largely ignored, considering it launched before Nintendo's next gen system and failed to achieve any mainstream support by the time the GCN did finally launch. |

It was a well-designed system overall, but like I said it had almost no hype - Sega didn't have the budget to promote it. |

| I've always been turned off the DC by the horrible controller. | |

| Senior Member | ^I thought the system was great, but never had any good games. Sonic Adventures 1/2 were the only games I ever bothered to buy. |

Some being: - Are you ****ing stupid? - Um, duh? But, maybe that's because I'm super tired and I have a low tolerance for questions like these. In short: **** no. |

| Member | Actually, I thought one of the Mario Golf games, or was it Mario Kart? I don't know. But anyway, I thought it said it was for PS2. Google it if you wanna check. I not so sure about this, but you can check. Answer:I checked, they said no. Last edited by BOTVGH Fan; 06-24-2009 at 02:18 PM. | Goku lives on the Sun | Dreamcast was a system I always desired but never had. Even now I'd like to get a hold of one, with some of the better games (like Soulcalibur). But I can see how it posed little to no threat to Ninty/Sony. And obviously, it did fail. |

| Goku lives on the Sun | GameCube had a controller many people didn't like, X-Box had a controller nobody liked, PS2 had a controller with no analog sticks, and they all did fine. Dreamcast failed for reasons beyond that of a controller. |

| GET IT THE MUSICIAN'S NAME IS PANDA BEAR | Um... The Dreamcast is highly regarded as one of the consoles with one of the best awesome to suck ratios, along with the Neo Geo. It also had online capabilities, which was new for its time. The controller is about on par with the Xbox. Just because a console fails doesn't mean it's because it was bad. (See: the aforementioned Neo Geo) Sega was running out of money from their past failures and the Playstation was the powerhouse at that time. They couldn't compete, and they stopped manufacturing them. I'm proud to say that I have my Dreamcast, but I'm sad to say that I never play it because I don't know where any of my games are. Though I plan to add to my collection for my Sega consoles this summer. Thanks eBay! |

| I specialize in HORN DRILL. HRAGH! | The real reason the Dreamcast failed was not the Games, the controller, or Sonic. It was two things. 1. Problems between Sega of Japan and Sega of America. (I may be wrong here.) 2. Sony. Sony's PS2 had the budget to blow the dreamcast under the water with its ad campaign. Add to the fact that PS2 played DVDs and everyone swarmed to pick up the PS2. A shame really, what with the great games that don't even get a second chance. |
