Grand Theft Auto Storyline. Spoilers are inevitable. - VGF

I currently own Grand Theft Auto: 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.

Though I played them in an order that resembles a Quinton Terentino movie (SA, 3, then VC), I have learned by playing them all that there is a storyline that intertwines all the games together. It is actually very fascinating once you see the entire story for what it is.

I would like to see if there are any other GTA fans here that also happen to like the GTA storyline. If so, could you post your connections here that we may discuss?

As a basic outline, we can tell that Vice City comes first. It takes place in 1987, as Kent Rosenberg said if memory serves.
Then, I think around 1993 San Andreas takes place. Some of the rap songs that came out at that time are referred to as new, and one of the songs, from Snoop Dogg I believe, refers to the year 1991. Also, this is the game when Catalina makes her first appearance in the timeline. Imagine my surprise when I found out that she was in GTA 3.
Then comes GTA 3, in this one Catalina betrays the playable character in that game.

Now, a few questions arise. Is the guy in GTA 3 actually Max Pain? I know Rock Star made both, but are those two the same? They look alike.
Also, what happened to Catalina? I know that she climbs into a helicopter, which is then blown up, but does she abandon the chopper before this? Below the dam was a river, so could she have lowered down onto a boat?

Also, I have never played any of the top down view GTAs. Does anyone know the storylines of those?

Finally, what do you think the next GTA will feature?
My idea would be one that features all three characters of the 3-D GTA series. Tommy Vercetti could be the brains, Carl Johnson could be the muscle and guns, and the GTA guy could be the wheelman/extra gun.
Along with this, I think that it should be multiplayer to where four people can play the story mode. As the fourth character, I think that maybe a Spanish guy, or possibly even a Chinese guy would work well. You could link either one of them to SA's Caesar or Wuzi. Also, that guy should be about 20, and practice Yamakazi, a modern day public stunt man that does crazy jumps from building ledges just for the thrill of it.

Any other comments? Please.

The top-down games had no real storyline, and the games never intertwined.

Your almost right on the storyline, Kent Rosenberg doesn't make the reference on the year, it tells you at the start of the game with the bosses meetings.

Probably not, since Max talks. Max could be based on the Mute, since Max Pain was release after GTA3

As for follow up GTAs, I personnally wouldn't like to see all the games characters intertwined.

I guess a better question is, what happened to Maria? I know at the end of the game the credits role and you can hear her going on and on about something until a gunshot is heard, then silence.

Do you think he shot her, or just fired into the air?

I would say the later, since I don't think he would have offered Catalina all that money for her return if he didn't have some feelings for her. Why go through all that trouble just to cap her at the end?

I've always thought that GTA3 was set in 1998(Late 90's).

And I always call the Claude, "Mute". It just suits him, better.

Does anyone call him Claude in the game? (Any of the ingame people.)

What are they doing? Are they sleeping with each other, or are they literaly having coffee? I've read somewhere that coffee makes some people excited, and stuff.

about catelina...you never know if she went kabloom...wasn't that what is suppose to happen to that guy in san andreas? but he survived some how to torment CJ some more...and who would go through all of that to shoot them in the end...that would be tarded
