What is this topic? This is a quick Mafia game designed to let new or inexperienced players get their feet wet and learn how the flow of these games work. Mixed into the pool of players are a couple people who know Mafia games very well, to assist the others in the game. The signups for this one are already closed, but if you are pretty new to the Mafia world and are interested in playing one of these in the future, contact me privately and maybe I'll set more up eventually.

Know your basics

The game shifts between day and night. It is currently "Night 0"; no discussion can start yet, only checking in. When it is daytime, players can post in this topic and try and start hunting out who might be Mafia scum. Beware, though - the Mafia will try to act just like Townies themselves and deceive everyone else while killing them off one by one. The day ends when a player receives enough votes to get lynched. In this game, there are no specific time limits unless I see discussion grinding to a halt. Days still won't last really long though.

If you are voting, please do it in bold text.
Vote: Person A

If you want to change your vote, make sure you take your first vote away.
Unvote: Player A
Vote: Player B

You can also show that you suspect somebody without voting for them with a "finger of suspicion", which I will also keep track of in a list below the votes.
FoS: Player A

When a player recieves votes from more than half of the remaining players, their role and alignment will be revealed, and night will begin. The moment a player gets enough votes to be lynched, discussion should stop while I write up what happened. Afterwards, night starts.

During the night, there should be no game-relevant posts in this topic other than a basic "good night". This is when most players privately submit to me what actions they wish to do. When the next day starts, I will announce who has been killed (if anybody) and the cycle starts again.

If you are Town aligned, your win condition is to get rid of all the Mafia members. If you are Mafia aligned, your win condition is to have your Mafia group be half or more of all the remaining people in the game.

In this game, there are exactly 5 Town roles and 2 Mafia roles. At least 3 roles, possibly more, are vanilla - meaning they have no special abilities to go with them. As a small reminder, remember that no Town members are allowed to talk to each other about anything game-related outside of the topic. Only the Mafia are allowed to chat with each other about stuff.

I will be sending out the roles to you guys shortly. Post here when you have received them and you are ready to go. Feel free to ask questions if you're confused about anything.

I was definitely thinking that too. One vet on town to help the townies, and one vet in mafia to help the mafia.

Sorry, gents. S1x never actually told me that the game had started... nor where the topic was. >_> Us lurkers don't know these things unless you tell us. *ahem* (Of course, it hasn't helped that I've been absolutely swamped at work. Cereally.)

Let me also caveat that I won't be here tomorrow. Microsoft Puzzlehunt is tomorrow, and I'm going to be spending tomorrow and most of Sunday doing solving puzzles that make Mafia look like a children's plaything. So... yeah, in case you wonder why I'm quiet.

Anyway... while it's certainly a possibility that one veteran is Mafia and one veteran is Town, Marchie, typically such things can't be easily relied upon. Most often, the game's setup is created at random. As a result, unless S1x custom-fit it for whatever, it's equally likely (probabilistically speaking) that both veterans are Townies.
