It's definitely not the disgrace FFVII was to FFVI
YOU DID NOT JUST TYPE THAT. Was that an accident? Haha, with sentiments like that, how have we not met before? But we'll save FF7 bashing for another time...

Mainly in the star system. I actually thought the element system was kinda fun at the beginning...until you have more elements than you can deal with.
The star system killed replayablity because you were always at more or less the same strength at the same points; there was no building up your characters to overpower a given boss. As for elements, haha, I manually equip the strongest and then auto-allocate the rest.

You don't need 45 PCs.
But how many times have you played an RPG and wished you could control some badass NPC? I feel like that was the CC design philosophy--to let us play as everyone so there wouldn't be any complaints. Granted, Turnip/Mojo and Co. wouldn't have been desired under any circumstance, but whatever. And yeah...I love how even with that they left out Dario. For Christ's sake!

The main problem with that is you can't really maximize all their stats and it's too hard to manage them all.
The game isn't really designed for you to be able to do that, heh.

Wow, Bolt's back. And we turned wvsw's stupid post topic into a CC debate. Friggen awesome.

Anyway, I've long stopped thinking about CC, so I'm not going to be much of a debater. (I don't think I've touched the game in what, God, 7 years now?)

I think we all agree on most of the points about CC. We can agree that the star system and element system is fairly lame. We can agree that the battle system is fairly fun and tight. The soundtrack is friggen amazing, probably my favorite of all time.

I think the only things CSM and I disagree with Bolt on are the tie-ins to CT and the overuse of PCs.

I agree with CSM that as a stand along game, CC is pretty cool. It's just very frustrating when you have to compare it to CT.

But I'll take CC over FF12 any day, heh.

Take that, wvsw and your silly 2000th post topic.-jay

I kinda actually like how they tied it all in at the end. I just wish they gave us more info earlier. The part where it leaves so much open to conjecture is what makes it actually kinda great. It was just executed horribly wrong. Kinda like how FFXII had a great story but it was executed so poorly people mistake it for a bad story.

And the fact that Magus and Frog were gone from the game makes it worse (sorry Glenn. You're cool, but you're no Frog).

And for good measure,

The OFFICIAL list of badass characters in Chrono Cross.
*Karsh
*Zoah
*Viper
*Zappa
*Orlha
*Fargo

(Sorry Glenn, you're cool, but you're too sweet).
(And sorry Grobyc, you're just too lame)

That's 15% of all the characters, meaning 85% of the characters aren't badass. -CSM

As I said, they went in with the right philosophy...it was just executed poorly. (And Glenn is TOO a badass...look at him wield those dual Einlanzers.)

I'm also still of the belief that Guile is Magus. So what if they officially removed the link? It's the thought that counts!

I agree with that. Philosophically, it was an awesome idea for a game. But in the end, the execution is the most important thing for a game. It's all they have to show for the game. The philosophy of the game, no matter how awesome, is hidden unless the makers of the game are able to convey it effectively through the game.

So personally, I still think that the Guile and Magus connection is bollocks. It is merely a figment of Bolt's imagination, and shall never be more. (Until they make Chrono Break) -jay

(Oh, and two Einlanzers makes Glenn a badass in my book.)

See, this is what I missed, when threads spontaneously became intelligent, instead of the inverse. =\

So it's okay to go off-topic if it's in a topic I made? I'm confused as to why we are having an intelligent conversation about Final Fantasy in a Meme topic.

I think it's okay as long as it's intelligent. The first post is starting point for conversation. It is not okay, though, to just deviate for deviation's sake. Especially in other forums.

Also, it's Chrono series, not FF.
