^Wrong usage of "morrow", you infantile, juvenile poser of a sesquipedalian speaker.

Oh what is this quaint intransigence? People trying to speak with a vocabulary beyond their bounds, I do say! When a person needs to hear some outlandishly gigantic verbiage, they should just turn to the eccentric one known as Metal Man! As ye can see, thou art just a forum reader, who hast not seen the atrocious depths of my violent vernacular shredding! Prithee thou understoodst me? No? Well, that is an unfortunately tragic problem. Alas!

Alas, I did not have much time to study for the impromptu lubricious test of vernacular. But thanks to you, I will no longer continue misusing prithee, ye, and hast.

Actually I'm still not sure what to use prithee for.

I think prithee is like the urethra but for robots from ancient Greece, IIRC.

True, I was only using it in jest.

Though that's actually Middle English. Old English is incomprehensible quasi-danish stuff.

Old English--'Beowulf'
Middle English--'Canterbury Tales'
Early Modern English--Shakespeare

Never got the appeal of using big ten-dollar college words in day-to-day speech. Feels a little sleazy.

What if you're just so knee deep in academia that those words just become a natural part of your vocabulary?

I don't worry about whether or not I'm perceived as pretentious and/or uneducated; I just use the word that I think best fits the situation. Sometimes "sesquipedalian" works better; sometimes "freaking big words" works better.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
