She moved away after our last conversation. I've seen her in commercials and movies often. However, whenever I see her smiling in these commercials...I can only think of it as a veil, hiding the emotional scars. We began to become distant in Grade 12. We were in one class in the morning together (she skipped this class often), plus one in the afternoon. We didn't speak much. Strangely, this distance between us made me fall in love with her. I know, it's cheesy. Maybe not seeing her for large periods of time just made me realize how important she was. Seeing her made my day: if she was absent, I felt robbed. One day, I worked up the courage and confessed to her. She blushed, and looked happy, but I knew in my heart something was wrong. "You...will you still love me after I tell you my secret?" she asked. "Yes." I replied, like a dumb white knight of justice. Looking back, this whole conversation was a mistake. Maybe if I had stayed away, we could have kept being friends. Maybe I could have supported her with her problems. But no. I was stupid, and I rejected her. I walked away. "I had Reeses for breakfast!" she exclaimed, tears in her eyes. "No way! You had candy for breakfast!?" I replied, caught off guard. "No, silly! Reeses Puff Cereal!" It was then I walked away, as she began to sob. I never spoke to her again, and I don't think I ever saw her in person again. |

Too bad it was in the wrong places... I love how somebody could take my story of death, and turn it into something like this. Genius. Pure genius. |
