Metroid Fusion, 4th in the series, it wasn''t out too long after I had actually discovered the metroid series, much to my delight. I've since completed it, along side Super Metroid, and have briefely played the other two 2D titles. But one thing that bugs me, as great as the game is, is how fusion seems to break away from the metroid style. I mean the main enemy is no longer the Metroids, there is more of a role playing feel to Samus, now having inner monologues and interaction with Adam, and she looses the suit! Not to mention the clichéd arch rival with all her powers, who then aids her against a bigger threat. Never do I get tired of seeing THAT in games. I guess the monologues are there to thinken the series, it allows you to relate to our hero more. But I mean Adam the CO seemed a bit tacked on, to my recolection I'd never heard him mentioned since then, and still don't know when he sacrificed himself for her as she mentions. :\ Any thoughts? I've had WAY too much time to contemplate this one, I need a job or something |

| Guest | That's the great thing about sidescrolling shooters: They've been influenced by Megaman X. Every new addition to the story increases the number of plot holes exponentially. It was sad that the exploration of the previous Metroid Games was taken out in favor of directed objectives. The other aspects, such as the control of Samus and the weapons, are better refined than they were in Super Metroid. Fusion is also more challenging in both general maneuvering and boss fights. |

| Guest | It was fun.Linear, but in a good way... SPOILERS - - - - - - - - Omega metroid was the easiest boss in the game...Ugh..Ridley or nightmare would make decent last bosses. They were *****es to beat with low missiles and energy tanks.. |

Most of the time I don't really care how hard a boss is, as long as there is a clever tactic built in to beat it. Ridley was pretty tough, lucky for me I had plenty of full energy tanks and missless. Some might say I used no tactics in killing him, but I like to believe it was a test of endurance ![]() |

| Guest | It was a different feel, but I can really say the only things i was disappointed with were the lack of unguided exploration and the shortness of the game. I want more, gawsh darnit. -new siggy.. haw!- ![]() [ August 12, 2003, 12:41 AM: Message edited by: A.I. is drux0rez. it is so. ] |
