| Guest | Was it the humans who found them in the first game, or was it the Chozo? Because I just realized that in the back of the Metroid Fusion booklet, their little history lesson says Metroid means "ulitmate warrior" in the Chozo language. I'm pretty sure the humans that discovered the Metroids named them that in the first game, right? |

But it had to have been either the Chozo or the humans. Hm, though I have heard from some sources that the Chozo created the Metroids for some reason or another. I dunno. Any ideas, guys? |

| Guest | Metroid 1 Story Mystery solved, it was indeed the scientists who named the unknown organisms as "Metroid." But now a rather interesting problem comes up; How does this name, generated by humans fit into the Chozo lore? |

| Guest | I find this line in the last paragraph interesting. "...Will he be able to destroy the Metroid and save the galaxy?" We all know Samus is a girl. I guess they just threw that 'he' in there to throw people off, because before anyone beat that game, noone knew Samus was indeed a girl. ~mariofreak~ |

I remember there being something written of the Metroids in Metriod Fusion's manual. And I just found it as I type this post so here it is: A Brieft History Lession While it has come to light in recent years that the Metroids were created by the ancient Chozo civilization, it is not common knowledge that they were created for the purpose of driving out the X parasites. At some point in the pst, the X parasites, which posses a terrible propagation power, threatened to overwhelm the ecosystem of their home world SR388 with their vast numbers. Something was needed to check this impending disaster. That "something" came in the form of the Metroids. When the Metroids, the X parasites' only known predators, were made exinct by Samus's hand, the X parasites once again began to multiply with ferocious speed. Ironically, the X parasites were subsequently responsible for nearly killing Samus when they infested her power suit. In a further twist, Samus's life was saved by an injection of an experimental vaccine containing Metroid DNA. As the inheritor of the Metroids' powers, Samus becomes the only being capable of opposing the X parasite horde. In a piece of ancient Chozo literature, an interesting reference to Metroids was found. It seems that the word Metroid in the Chozo language can be roughly translated as "ultimate warrior." WIth the introduction of Metroid DNA to her system, the reborn Samus is perhaps the most appropriate successor to this title of ultimate warrior. So there ya go, Nintendo's most recent bit of info. Which completely contradicts that earlier written story from above. This is rather typical of Nintendo, as you know. Most prominately this is known in the form of that mess we call the Zelda series' story. So I guess one can say, there is no definate answer when it comes to the Metroid story as well.
