I'm just curious about this certain feeling the series seems to envoke in people I talk to.

Yeah, I can recall getting edgy playing Super Metroid late at night, exploring a totally new area and the like.

And now that I am playing Prime, I'm always spinning around at slightest sound in the game, thinking its some enemy...

Remember playing through the opening area of Metroid Prime? The Pirate Ship? Oh man, will that give you 'the willies'. It's the fact that it's dark, you're more or less all alone in cramped quarters...and you see plenty of death and destruction all around...really spooky. Thankfully that clears up when you get down on Tallon IV...but it still has its moments.

All of them do.

Near misses with SA-X anyone?

Yes! Oh god yes! I actually yelped when I ran into the SA-X! My sister just looked at me like I was crazy... er...

Running from SA-X (after the arachnid boss) made my mom stare at me. I started saying the same thing really fast. You know, like "OhcrapOhcrapOhcrapOhcrapOhcrapOhcrapOhcrap" and the like.

And after entering the crater in Prime (and dying after fighting Fission Metroids) I went paranoid whenever I heard something.

I. HATE. FISSION METROIDS.

I almost got caught when SA-X blows the wall, along with the floor you're hiding under sky high. And I had no idea that I was exposed either. Thankfully it didn't look back and I was saved. This was in Sector 6 (NOC).

In the beginning of Prime I was petrified. Then, I freaked out when SA-X caught me about a bagillion times.

The use of music and obscenely large or unexpected creatures can sometimes be shocking..
And everyone seems to kind of freak out when they get stuck in the lava.

Red face

When I saw all the monsters crumbling to sand and then I saw a huge ass troid in SM, I was like Oh ****...

You know, that kind of fear. Not a phobia, like "JESUS CHRIST SOMEONE HELP ME" fear.

In Metroid Prime... Phazon Mines is SO annoying. Space pirates around every corner.. and tons of Metroids floating around.

I'm real good at running from SAX now. Sometimes I would chase him just what he would do (and how badly i'd get blown to smithereens)

I voted no, but thinking back... certain moments in MP, like when Chozo Ghosts showed up, spooked me. And running from the pirates in Zero Mission got my heart going too.

Thumbs up

Two words: Wrecked Ship. That place scared the hell out of me when I was younger, especially when the power hadn't be restarted yet.

The worst it's ever done to me is give me chills. It doesn't scare me, but then again, not even the Silent Hill series scares me.
