It looks like there will be a Metroid movie done by John Woo instead of the stupid American Pie team. Now this gets me excited.

I'm still cautious, but I'm listening...While video game movies tend to fail to live up to the games, in their own right they tend to be pretty decent movies and would've been possibly thought of as better had they not been associated with the game.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within for example, but what baffles me is how the movie could feel so little like its namesake and yet be made by Square itself rather than an outside studio...

"Tiger Hill is overseeing development of three original games, the first of which will ship in late 2005, with the remaining two hitting shelves in late 2006. Woo will direct the games' cinematics, oversee the story and voice talent, supervise motion capture and manage the character designs."

Woah ho ho, hold up. What's this supposed to mean? Games based on the movie(s)?

^Oh, please God NO! If this thing bellyflops like it almost certainly will, I don't want those things ruining the Metroid name further.

I highly doubt that they are developing games for the Metroid series. Face it, Nintendo handles the GBA games and they'd be stupid to take the GameCube Metroid games from Retro Studio's capable hands. I'm more than sure that the games that are supposedly in development are original concepts from Tiger Hill. I'm not worried at all.

It would also be very stupid for them to develop a game based on the movie that is based on the games.

Worst fighting games of all time..

STREET FIGHTER: the Movie (no explanation needed for this pile of dung)

Double Dragon V (based off the terrible cartoon, which was supposedly based off the original game series.. note my usage of the word 'supposedly')

Well, actually, I see some great potential in some games to become movies, especially ones with great storylines (earthbound, for example), but I can't really see any of the metroid games being turned into movies, with the exception of metroid fusion.
