Yeah, kinda late, but I just recently got enough money to buy the game, and here are my thoughts.

First of all, the game is awesome. The graphics, gameplay, music and atmosphere have all been upgraded considerably, while staying true to the original (mostly, more on that later). I still recognized most of good ol' planet Zebes, but it's still comparable to modern adventure games. The boss battles, while fairly easy, were intense, and the cutscenes were vivid and entertaining.

Ok, enough good points. There's one major problem I had, and that was with the ending. In my opinion, it was a terrible "twist," as some magazines called it. It was a COMPLETE anticlimax to the escape scene after Mother Brain. It was sort of fun crawling through the air shaft without the power suit, avoiding the space pirates, but in my opinion it felt like they were starting off a new adventure that ended too soon with the ridiculous Mecha-Ridley. Which brings me to my next point: Mecha-Ridley was just awful. It was incredibly easy and reminded me of the droids in the original Star Wars; I almost expected its arm to just fall off halfway through the battle. The scene at the shrine was sort of cool, but why did Samus need a new suit? Couldn't her suit in the original Metroid have easily been the ones in the later games?

So there's my two cents. You may not agree with it (in fact, I don't expect you to, since most reviews I've read praised this new ending), but I had to say it, and this forum seems to need some new posts.
