Question Metroid: Dread

I'm calling b.s. on this one, but I'd still like to see something come of it. Anyone care to share their thoughts on the subject?

Before it even got the chance to go anywhere, after GI let slip a rumor, another magazine or site went on to say it'd been canceled, without citing any particular source.

If you don't know about it, this supposedly would have been another 2D Metroid game for the DS. While someone's claimed it's been canceled without info to back it up, another went on to say Nintendo wasn't letting any info out about it until after Metroid Prime: Hunters

Wait. Is it something Nintendo announced and GI leaked, or something GI made up?

Depends on who you talk to about it. It's all very confusing, and I don't trust GI. But because I'm all for the new game, I want to.

GI also said the Revolution controller was gonna be touch-screen based... so I doubt we should take anything they say very seriously.

However, at one point, IGN said it was still in development, but wouldn't be shown for quite a while.

That much I have heard, but until then, they might as well be asking me to join a suicide cult. Here's hoping that it's both real and not another linear-style game like Fusion was.

Well, I havn't heard anything. But then again, I'm always the last to know important news. Even if it's been known for months.

Metroid: Dread

I hope Metroid: Dread wasn't canceled. Another 2D Metroid game would be awesome.

My sentiments exactly. 3D metroid is a little cumbersome, anyway. The 2D style is too elegant to give up, in my opinion. In waiting, I've been playing some of the "castleroid" style recent Castlevania games.. Metroid Prime: Hunters is a good something for someone to get me on my b-day, but I don't think I wanna buy it myself right now.

well another 2D metroid would be cool, but I'd want 'tendo to make it 3D character models on a 3D generated background, but playing as a side-scroller. In simplified terms, sort of like smash bros.

Yeah, I would be all right with that. I think it's kind of a cop-out, in a way, but it would work fine.

Metroid in 2D

I think Metroid is best in 2D. Don't get me wrong, Metroid Prime was a good game and all, but I feel the Metroid just works better in 2D. So, I hope Nintendo doesn't canceled it, I'll be dissapointed.
