Question Your hopes for Metroid Prime 3

I find myself sitting here remeniscing the larger corridors of the first Metroid Prime.. I loved the huge open areas of the wintery zone, and hope they go even bigger in the next Prime game.

All the same, I hope they don't go using the cliffs you can fall off in Echoes that damage you.. Doesn't belong in Metroid, where there's never been something such as a bottomless pit.

Just a couple brief notions.

What do you want? Any ideas as to the game's plot or play?

Don't forget Hunters will have new characters.

Besides hoping the motion sensor is nearly flawless in terms of gameplay, I'm just looking forward to a deep, massive game filled with incredible areas. The areas of Metroid Prime just got blah when I had to go from area to area, espically finding out one of the backtracking I did was for the Space Jump, which I had already acquired. Back to Phendrana Drifts I had to go!

^ Tracked down again hutch. I haven't played any of the Metroid standards before. Reason being I don't have a Gamecube, it's my brother's and he won't even consider buying a Metroid game if I mentioned it. I have a GBA though, I could get Fusion... If it's a game sequel the harder the better I say. With more items and weapons and all that too as dekugorozor said.

Do not bump topics merely to say that you haven't any of the games in the series. That is assinine.

While Echoes did use the same engine, it's hard to say it was a carbon copy. The progression and plot were very different.. As well as "light" and "dark" worlds were uncharacteristic for the Metroid series. I don't want them to lose sight of exploration in a serious world being the basis of the metroid series, primarily. That and using limited ammo for the different beams was very un-metroid. And the environments tended to differ, visually.

But the game itself, especially the beams and visors were almost exactly the same. But it still kicks ass.

Metriod Prime 3 hmm, well I'd like an online mode where you could customize your character have like, individual weapons. But that'll never happen

It was not a bump it was simply a contribution to the topic.

yeah eclipse, I got to agree with the mods, posting in a forum for a game you don't play or know anything about is stupid.

Keep on topic, please. If you're interested in Metroid, but don't know the slightest about it, ask about it in another topic.

At any rate - I don't think it's fair to say that Echoes was too similar in concept and all that to the first Prime, and the beams behaved rather differently - they're still coming from Samus's arm cannon, you can't make them too bizarre. I don't care if it's online, but it does seem likely that it will be online. I don't like the idea of their being other hunters to rival Samus, as she's been said to be the "ultimate warrior", and they never give her full abilities when they put her in versus games. Heh, the hyper beam was definitely nothing to sneeze at, and the plasma beam is a pretty hefty regular weapon.

Still, I do hope they manage to avoid using another dried up concept like "dark" and "light" dimensions, above all else.

Heh, and back in my day, we only had ONE extra visor, and that was the x-ray visor

as long as I can shoot pirates with the ice beam and fire missiles to blow them up I'll be very happy.

I'll second that, deku.

Ice beam-missile combo is a must.

I wouldn't mind being able to torch the pirates so they run scared.

I didn't see anything wrong with the Light and Dark world, personally. The damage taken from being in the dark for too long added an extra dimension of gameplay.

I'll go out on a limb and tackle another aspect of the game: multiplayer. Everybody said that Echoes' multiplayer was "OMG t3H Gr34T!11!!1!" but I failed to see what was so "great" about it. It wasn't too original, as far as I'm concerned, and when I played multiplayer with other people, it was entertaining for only so long. The whole concept almost seemed disposable. I would love to see an expansion on the multiplayer, especially if it is going to be online.

I don't know.. My biggest problem with the Light/Dark world scenario was that it's been done many times before, and it just feels too video-gamey. See, before the original creator had passed, none of the Metroid games were so much like other series, environment-wise. Fusion is the complete opposite of that, although its environment is supposed to feel artificial, while in Metroid: Prime, you dealt with things like an Ice area in addition to a very Norfair-esque fire/lava-zone.. and then the whole Light/Dark world thing seemed to just be completely lifted from another game and dropped on the series. I'd like to get away from that, myself. Nothing in Super Metroid seemed to lack fluidity, and that was built off of Metroid 2, which was made to feel very organic. I don't mind them using places other than Zebes, I even encourage it.. and I loved the ruins in Prime. I don't want everything to be so influenced by what's been done in other games. I want the ideas to be original and unique.
