I already have the first two octoliths and half of the weapons and, as long as AI has no problems with it, I thought I might as well make a review of it. The game starts of on a spacestation where you'll get your first taste of the controls, of fighting other hunters, bounty hunters and, if you can't get used to the controls quickly enough, dying. Personally, I use the default control method and have no trouble with it, however it is a lot different from the other 3D Metroid games as it goes for a more traditional FPS gameplay style. the graphics are crisp and push the system to the full, however in some instances, large amounts of enemies cause slowdown. The sound is great and the music sets the scene perfectly, eg. the complete solitude of the first level. Scanning has sadly returned for the third 3D outing though now it is a lot harder to tell if something can be scanned or not due to there being no sign on the combat visor, eg. lore is completely invisible, although this has not deterred me from playing further. there are a few irritating enemies, the guardians namely, who refuse to die and are often harder to beat than the hunters themselves. I have not yet tested the multiplayer as I'm not close to a wi-fi spot (and I'm too lazy to make one myself) and I haven't seen anyone else with it quite yet. so on that front you'll have to trust other people, other than that I can only say it is one of the most finely crafted games on the DS. please give your opinion on the game. You should try and get yourself into some multiplayer, as that's the real meat of the game. |
