I voted for 1. Though I love them both there are more annoying things in Prime 2, mainly the ammo for beam weapons and uninteresting sceneries in the first two levels (forgot the names). I absolutely loved the futuristic city level, though.

I disagree, I liked the music in the first one better as well, especially Magmoor Caverns and Phendrana Drifts.

The intro theme to the first Metroid Prime is something for all electronic musicians to aspire to. It's a masterpiece. I also quite liked its atmospheric musics. Echoes was just a typical same-engine sequel. It does a lot differently, but different doesn't mean better. I think the first was much more Metroid than the second, considering.

for me i usually like the sequals better than the originals to me once the sequals come out the originals become "very obsolete" and the music was way better the scan system was way better the idea of light and dark worlds was good so metroid prime prime is a good game but its obsolete in my eyes.

I preferred the first scan system. The second menu system was unwieldly, also. And the environments and such in the second game, being light and dark, just seemed hoaky and videogamey. I also don't see the point in considering a story to be obsolete. I like games more than just for their technology - Plot and scenarios and gameplay are more important.

I preferred the first one as well. MP2 what great but it had a few niggly bits that the first one didn't have like beam ammo. I mean it meant that I hardly used the uber weapon cos it took one ammo from each per shot and I think I only used the charge up blasts about once each. Ten rockets + 30 ammo for one blast? Seemed like a major waste, especially if you missed

Another thing though, I was playing through the second game on hard mode recently and to tell the truth, it barely felt harder than on normal. The bosses in both the games had your usual 'you gotta do some thing before you can really hurt the boss' stuff but in the second one it was like, once you've done that stuff you do something that causes the boss mega damage meaning they weren't as harder really. In the first one most bosses once they we're open you had to blast away like a maniac and you really felt the difference in difficulty.

And commas are way better than both games! :P

I disagree. The scan system is technically the same as it was in the first game aside from being able to scan the entire object rather than an icon.

The music is a matter of opinion. I didn't find any tracks in the second game memorable by any means, and what was decent was recycled music from previous Metroid games. Yet the first MP had the killer opening song, the return of the theme of Ridley's Hideout from Super Metroid which is fantastic. Plus newer songs like the Space Pirate theme.

I also thought the Lores were very poorly done in MP2. The Chozo Lores in the first game were borderline poetic. Obviously the Trooper Logs are an understandable exception, but the Luminoth Lore was uninspiring, and the Space Pirate Logs lacked the arrogance and scientific content of the original.

The Dark World idea has been terribly overdone since A Link to the Past, and the games that have done it well are few and far between. However, I will concede MP2 did a fairly decent job with the Dark World despite my initial turn-off to the idea.

Lastly, the boss battles were uninspiring in MP2. What happened to fighting animate rocks and genetically engineered super pirates? Instead we fight giant bugs for the boss battles. Wow, we haven't ever seen that before.

The first Metroid Prime gets my vote, though it would still lose to Super Metroid.

You call the bosses in MP2 big bugs???? You call the dark Agon temple guard a big bug?? What about all the Ing bosses? Are they bugs too???? I do not think so!

The music in MP2 was wonderful better than MP1! Well Phenadrana Drifts and Magmoor Caverns are good but that is the only good music in the game.

The storyline was great!

The graphics and system were better!

The secenery was not good but at least everything else was!

I honestly don't see anything in the second game being better than the first, technically or otherwise.

Okay, so the Agon bosses are three giant man eating worms. My point still stands: they're unoriginal.

And the Warrior Ing design is obviously based on insect anatomy, so yes, I consider them bugs.

I will concede that Quadraxis wasn't a bug, and it was my favorite boss in the game.

That is merely your opinion. You have no evidence and no credentials to prove the composition and performance of the music in MP2 was superior to the music in MP. Nor do I which is why I said the music is a matter of opinion in my previous post.

Quote:
The storyline was great!
It wasn't as well written as the story was in MP, plain and simple. In fact, the story seems to be a rehash of the story in MP due to these similarities:

1. Luminoth were a peaceful, technologically advanced species like the Chozo.
2. Both Tallon IV and Aether were struck by a meteor which put the natural states of both worlds into chaos.
3. The Chozo are extinct while the Luminoth are on the verge of extinction.
4. The structure of Luminoth society is much the same as that of the Chozo's. There are warriors, priests, sculptors, and elders, and maybe a few that I'm even forgetting.
5. Both games have a malevolent presence which is the source of the corruption. In MP it is Metroid Prime. In MP2 it is the Emperor Ing which has absorbed the final energy controller.

Really the only difference in the stories of both games is the appearance of Dark Samus. If the game had focused on its destruction instead of downplaying its presence to being a mere wildcard I probably would have enjoyed the game more despite already having been covered adequately in Metroid Fusion.

Quote:
The graphics and system were better!
Graphically the only differences are the further smoothed textures and animations. Aside from that there really isn't any difference as the two games run on the same graphics engine.

I have no idea what you mean by the "system" being better.

Quote:

No the scenery wasn't as good, but I didn't mind that so much. The Metroid games largely revolved around underground exploration before Metroid Prime was released. Catacombs, caves, and technologically advanced areas are part of what makes Metroid, well, Metroid.

But no, not everything else was good, nor was it as good as Metroid Prime.
