The Metroid Timeline!

SAMUS as a child,
Zero Mission,
Years pass,
Metroid,
Return of Samus,
Super Metroid,
Metroid Prime

I'm just guessing that Prime is at the end. I don't know where Fusion goes because I haven't found a ROM of it yet.
Anyone else have a timeline? Can anyone give the story behind Fusion and an in-game date for when Prime takes place?

ZM is a remake of Metroid.

I believe Prime comes between Zero Mission and Return of Samus. It was originally planned to be a prequel to the original Metroid.

Hence, Metroid ZERO mission (0) and
Metroid PRIME (meaning 1).

OK thanks, but I don't believe Zero Mission was a Metroid remake.
Anything else? If not I will go ahead and try to form a storyline.

Meroid/Metroid: Zero Mission
Metroid Prime
Metroid II: Return of Samus
Super Metroid
Metroid Fusion

That's the order, offical and set in stone. Ask anyone who's credible. And you can't argue that Zero Mission isn't a remake, it's just absurd.
