Another 2D Metroid?

Well, my opinion is firmly that Nintendo needs to continue the series of 2D Metroid games. I was curious to see what you guys think. Is Nintendo overdue for another 2D game? Would you be interested?

Yes. The 2D ones are great, as are the 3D ones, and more of both would be even better.

Although I hope they don't get too weird with the 3D ones, we need some normal stuff if we are to call it Metroid, right?

Another 2D one would be the polpetta atop my spaghetti.

They should make another Metriod with 2D flavor.

That page has no illustrations. It meeds to be more...spoiler-like.

Otherwise, people who can't read are the only ones that don't have the game spoiled for them, and probably shouldn't be on VGF, Wikipedia, or in fact, the Internets.

...what? It's just a page for the upcoming (possibly) Metroid Dread. It doesn't need illustrations yet.

They should. Even though people may expect a 3D FPS like Hunters, the DS and PSP are pretty much the only way the classic side-scrolling platform games live on. (Wii can count if you count remakes. ) They were all very popular, and even though Samus had a pretty good transition to 3D, the 2D games were still very popular.

well due to the fact that the DS still has a gba slot you can't rule out the possibility of one last GBA metroid

Technically, they could make it a side scroller for the Wii. Like, Paper Mario style, but not all RPG-y.

I love the 2-D games, and I gotta say I was really disappointed when they made a DS game that was 3-D. Alas.

I can only finish the 3D games, for some reason. I just can't get into the 2D ones.

I'm somewhat the opposite. Both Primes are hard to finish for me. (Damn you Phazon Mines/Quadraxis!)

I beat Prime, but it took me the second time around to get into it. I got pretty far in Prime 2, but lost interest due to much backtracking and not knowing where to go. I can't wait for Prime 3, though. Never played Hunters.

I'm kinda the same way with the 2-Ders, though. I beat Zero Mission, Fusion, and Super Metroid (Super Metroid with close to 100%, on my own). I never got my hands on Metroid, and Metroid II is hell and I never got very far at all.

Psst, ML, here's a tip: Zero Mission has the original Metroid in it.

I know, I'm not retarded. I still want to play it on the NES, 'cause I'm just one of those guys.

Yes. The 3D Metroids could not keep my interest at all.

I personally know about 10 people that still have fully functional NESes. I just need to replace one thing to get mine working again, myself.

And I bet I could get my hands on a Metroid cart from one of those 10 people if I ask nicely.
