THE CROCOMIRE IS IN METROID: ZERO MISSION!

Well, kind of. People searching around in the game's data found unused sprites for the Crocomire in Metroid: Zero Mission. That's not big news. Somebody's taken it upon theirself to bring it to life, though! Glory!

I wonder if it was intentional for him to pin Samus against the wall or if it was a bug in the programming.

Nice to see there's a competent hacking community for that game.

Having seen a number of bad ones, you'd think half the game hackers these days only frequent games with automated editors.

AI, was it still separate sprites like it was in Super Metroid? I remember there being a sprite for each its head, body, and arms.

Yes, it was. In fact, I'm 99% sure those aren't the sprites that were originally found in the game. It looks like he re-did them, because the originals looked more like a rough draft.

The original sprites were actually of an infant Crocomire. I think they(the game developers) were planning on including a young Crocomire, which would have grown by the time you see it in Super Metroid.

Here's a site with the sprites for it:
.::[Metroid: Fan Mission]::.

I've never seen that before. Not what I was talking about, but interesting, none the less.

that was a pretty cool battle. but i can see why he wasn't in it.if he was going to be in it, they're should definitely be more room to fight him.

The hacker has coded an entirely original A.I. for it, no one knows how it might have originally behaved. That's part of why it's so cool that it was hacked into the game.

The least he could've done is make the Crocomire go backwards when he's hit.

Me? I wouldn't enjoy being crushed between a Crocomire and the door.
